What Diamond/Platinum perks were taken away with VIFP?
Perhaps not, regardless to say I don't show my card often , never have ,no thrill in that to me. But yet still we're both Plats 20 or 30 days from Diamond.
Perhaps the first night aboard the ship if we had actually received a turn down service for the night instead of a meeting in the hall with two mints and the next day capers .

There is a change and it is noticeable . I'm happy things are good for you :)
When I talk about presenting my card, I'm talking about in the normal course of the day when I give to the bartenders, bar waiters, in the shops, at the shore excursion desk, at Guest services, in the casino, getting on and off the ship, etc.

But of course, I was representing my personal preference .
My DH and I become Platinum on our cruise next month and to be honest I can't figure out what all the fuss is about. We cruise because we LOVE the experience and we would cruise with or without perks. The little extras that Carnival is going to give us are appreciated but I certainly don't feel that I am entitled to them. They are a gift!
Like:rolleyes:
Another change is the Canapés. Platinum used to get a plate of Canapés one night and a plate of sweets on another. Like you need more free food on the ship. I think the plate you get now with chocolate covered strawberries is worth more to me than the 2 plates from before.
I miss the canapes, I'm not a big fan of sweets and really enjoyed the little snack.

For us the limits on laundry are not an issue. I only ever send denim or sturdy stuff that can withstand the harsh hot water and detergent.

I've not found FTTF to be bothersome. I don't go to GS often, but I've never been behind more than a couple of people.

I have disagreed with the "laundry change" ever since people started making that claim. I was Platinum prior to the change and I never saw anything that said "unlimited" laundry. Everything I ever saw regarding Platinum benefits just said free laundry (which does not assume that it is unlimited). In fact, even before the change, many people used to complain that certain ships and certain stewards told them that there were limits on the number of bags.

So this was not a benefit "lost", just a benefit defined.

The canapés' were wasted on us, not because they weren't good, but because unless you were in the room when they were delivered, you never knew how long they had been sitting there.

I only remember once they were still cold to the touch so I deemed them safe enough to eat. With smoked salmon and cream cheeses you just never know, and getting ill on a cruise would not have been fun. The strawberries and chocolate treats are less risky.
This is the only thing that does bug me (just a little ;))

Nothing else affected us at all --- just did 14 days B2B -- between us 12 bags of laundry was adequate. Makes you wonder why they changed it, did some people actually use more than that?
It irritates me that Carnival allows people to wave a credit card and get perks when I've been loyal to the brand and my perks have been cut down.

My last cruise, I showed my Plat card to a room attendant standing guard by the closed doors going to the staterooms.
He stated, repeatedly, that I could not go to my stateroom before 1PM.
So much for the "improved" Plat....
If I had known, I would have stayed in my room on the Queen Mary longer and not rushed out.
Did not think I would have to do the carryon schlep on the Lido, either.

Pam

Yes, I have read the threads discussing Carnival's economic issues and solutions.
Platinum used to get personalized Carnival stationary with envelopes. Haven't gotten that in years.
Yes, beautifully embossed stationery with your name typed by a printer at the top . . . can't believe they actually did that. . . so classless.
You are exactly right. It is that arrogant attitude that gets me. On another thread one of those people stated that if there was a FTTF person in line ahead of them that they would make a scene and hope that Carnival would give them something free. Probably just hot air but it is disturbing that someone would even think that.
This is exactly what the guy behind me did. Left a sour taste in my mouth. Not sure what happened with the lady helping him. I felt sorry for her having to deal with the a@@.

This thread has gotten pretty funny !
I for one am not impressed with someone because they sailed x number of times on Carnival. LOL
I am impressed more by someone who is gifted with or learned manners, grace and humility.
I seriously would burst out laughing if someone waved their Plat/Diamond card around spouting off and acting like they were important somehow!
Sheeezzzzz.
Wow, 12 bags of laundry for how many people? On our B2B we did one bag for the 13 days. I can see why they changed it.
Are you saying you (2 of you?) only washed one small paper sack of laundry for 2 weeks?
I am sooo hoping you brought most of your laundry home or they were nudist cruises. Edited by silvercrikhix

I just edited my signature, TMI, so I guess it wasn't on there....

I have done that cruise about 15 times. As recently as 2 months ago. 3 times this year. We always get on and go straight to our room. Usually by 11 am. Never had a problem. There was even printed signs on the doors last cruise stating Platinum, Diamond and FTF only.

We're divers, so no extra clothes needed for ports, just a t-shirt and shorts over our bathing suits. Only had to wash underwear and a couple shirts, and you can put a heck of a lot in of those laundry bags. We never repeated outfits (other than on diving days), and brought our laundry home.

The sign on the door stated rooms wouldn't be available til 1PM.
Maybe there was a problem of some kind on my floor.
But the employees I talked to were adamant about "no entering."
I might have gone to GS to inquire but was hungry and wanted to get the Mongolian grill before it got crowded.
