BellaJones Posted November 27, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 27, 2013 Please could anyone tell me if ironing facilities are available in Allure balcony cabins?
boulders Posted November 27, 2013 #2 Share Posted November 27, 2013 No there are no ironing facilities for passengers. There is a pressing service and a laundry service.
Rare 1025cruise Posted November 27, 2013 #3 Share Posted November 27, 2013 Welcome to Cruise Critic. Just a couple words of advice: 1. When posting a question, it would be better to put the topic in the subject/title of the thread, as opposed to your name. 2. For cruise line specific questions, it is best to ask them on the appropriate cruise line forum, versus the general "Ask a Cruise Question" forum. With regards to laundry, Royal Caribbean does not put self serve laundries on their ship. Also, do not bring your own iron, it will be confiscated. leaveitallbehind Posted November 27, 2013 #4 Share Posted November 27, 2013 As mentioned, there are no self service laundry facilities on any RCI ships and irons are not allowed to be brought on board to use in your stateroom as they pose a fire hazard. However, there are fee based dry cleaning and laundry services available on board.
Bonnie J. Posted November 27, 2013 #5 Share Posted November 27, 2013 You can bring Downey's Wrinkle Release which you spry on clothes to get the wrinkles out- but do this in the morning to give time for it to work. You can find this with the detergents in any grocery store. You can also bring a steamer to do this.
paul929207 Posted November 27, 2013 #6 Share Posted November 27, 2013 Royal Caribbean views laundry as a money maker. SO you must go thru them for cleaning and pressing
cb at sea Posted November 27, 2013 #7 Share Posted November 27, 2013 Neither RCI or Celebrity have any passenger laundry facilities.
Fredr Posted November 27, 2013 #8 Share Posted November 27, 2013 Don't let wrinkled clothes bother you. I know you want to look your best but on a ship the size of the Allure and the itinerary, wrinkled clothes should not be given a second thought. Lerin Posted November 28, 2013 #9 Share Posted November 28, 2013 We find steaming items in the shower works quite well. :)
hsaroya Posted November 29, 2013 #10 Share Posted November 29, 2013 We were on Oasis for a Christmas sailing and my mom's iron was confiscated - she didn't know about the policy and we didn't think to mention it. Not sure if you're staying in a hotel for the night when you get to the port city, but we did and used the iron in the hotel room to iron all of our good clothes, put them in a thin garment bag and carried them on board, leaving the rest of the baggage for the porters. Worked well and it was free!
alcpa1 Posted November 29, 2013 #11 Share Posted November 29, 2013 There are many threads about packing. You can do a search here on Cruise Critic and be overwhelmed.... There are you tube videos and google searches that will also give you great tips. For us, the best method is to pack everything in either plastic bags and the thin dry cleaning bags for our clothes on hangers. Our over cautious approach resulted from luggage getting soaked on an airport tarmac. But it works. Have a great cruise. Don't worry about your clothing, everyone else is in and on the same boat. And, before you ask....a steamer is also banned.
