zzmmmommy Posted November 28, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 28, 2013 My husband and I have been given the chance to take a cruise, without our children - first night away in 11 years!!! But we only have January 16-20. We live in Fl and can leave from any port here, but we can't travel elsewhere. I can only seem to find 2 Carnival ships - the Victory and Ecstasy. We were hoping for some more choices. I can't seem to find anything else. Does anyone have any suggestions, are we missing a cruise? Thx!

zzmmmommy Posted November 28, 2013 Author #4 Share Posted November 28, 2013 If this was your first vacation, without children, in 11 years, which one would you choose? Destinations are not important - Key West, Cozumel, etc. That we don't care about, we care more about enjoying the shows, food, casino, that kind of stuff. Colorado Kat Posted November 28, 2013 #5 Share Posted November 28, 2013 Go for a 4 night over a three night. 33% more vacation!
OCruisers Posted November 28, 2013 #6 Share Posted November 28, 2013 Are you limited to 3 or 4 days with absolutely no possibility of 7? LuLu
zzmmmommy Posted November 28, 2013 Author #7 Share Posted November 28, 2013 I only have my inlaws from the 16th - 20th...nothing more. To leave from Miami or Ft. Lauderdale would be the easiest, but it seems like there aren't many choices.
Fredr Posted November 28, 2013 #8 Share Posted November 28, 2013 I am not starting any arguments here but frankly 3 and 4 day cruises on Carnival are just that...a Carnival. I am not saying you won't have a nice time but just understand that 3 and 4 day cruises are real party cruises. I would go on a Disney cruise if you want an upscale cruise experience. Lerin Posted November 28, 2013 #9 Share Posted November 28, 2013 (edited) Just my opinion but: For my first trip without kids in 11 years there is no way I'd go on a short cruise. If there is no possibility of going on a longer trip, I'd look into an adult resort. If you are dead set on a cruise, then the options listed are all pretty much the same(except Disney). Pick whichever one is the closest drive, or 4 days, or cheapest, or alphabetically comes first... If you go on Disney, then you may as well just take the kids. Enjoy Edited November 28, 2013 by Lerin

zzmmmommy Posted November 28, 2013 Author #11 Share Posted November 28, 2013 I looked up Disney - nothing available those dates. Anyway, I think I might feel kind of guilty going on my first Disney cruise without the kids :)
cruiserking Posted November 28, 2013 #12 Share Posted November 28, 2013 I looked up Disney - nothing available those dates. Anyway, I think I might feel kind of guilty going on my first Disney cruise without the kids :) The Disney Magic does a 3-night cruise from Port Canaveral to Castaway Cay their private island on January 17. The Disney ships are very elegant would definitely choose this ship for a first cruise. Jonathan
Rare Keith1010 Posted November 28, 2013 #13 Share Posted November 28, 2013 If this was me I wouldn't do the cruise. These short cruises tend to be party boats with a lot of drinking. Why not go to a nice resort. Keith

It can be a great deal if you can go on another cruise at a later date. the sailing dates and cruise length would seem to fit in your time slot. cruiserking Posted November 28, 2013 #15 Share Posted November 28, 2013 Your best bet is to try and squeak out two more days so you can book a 7-day cruise, then your options really open up. As everyone on this thread has stated the short cruises really tend to attract a party crowd. Jonathan

indychristine Posted December 7, 2013 #17 Share Posted December 7, 2013 My husband and I always cruise without kids and have done a number of DCL cruises. We love the adult areas and the laid back feeling. But no casino. Having said that.... I can understand your feeling of guilt! You could say you are doing"research" Lol. ;) Whatever you decide.... 2bthereagain Posted December 7, 2013 #19 Share Posted December 7, 2013 (edited) It is true that 4 day cruises have a different vibe than 7 day cruises, but don't let the negative comments affect your decision. I'm sure you and your husband will have a wonderful time on a 4 day cruise. Just because other people party doesn't mean you have to let it affect your good time. Heck, for all anyone knows you may be one of the party animals lol. Since its an 'adult' getaway, I wouldn't worry about it. I have been on several short cruises and they are whatever you make them ~ just like everything else in life. We do the shorter ones sometimes when we add on a land vacation like going to a theme park or visiting a new city. I have been on Carnival Paradise and it still gets decent reviews. Enjoy your man, enjoy your adult time, and enjoy your cruise! Lisa Nashville, TN Edited December 7, 2013 by 2bthereagain
zoncom Posted December 8, 2013 #20 Share Posted December 8, 2013 (edited) Victory best of the bunch, even built this Century. Only $199. Note above pricing details(they may be deleted!) 2 ports;Key West and Cozumel, better than Bahamas. Wondered why not much availability- 16th is Tuesday.Book soon.Inside is fine. Make sure cabin is beneath other cabins, not public spaces, which can be noisy. Edited December 8, 2013 by zoncom
