jamesnnb Posted November 29, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 29, 2013 We know it is permissible to bring your own flowers on board (and not permissible to carry off any flowers, plants, etc.) and this is quite popular at Seattle's Pike's Market. Most people have done with in the US -- but is it also permissible in foreign ports (specifically Canada)? Has anyone brought their own flowers on board in Canadian ports? Rare TracieABD Posted November 29, 2013 #2 Share Posted November 29, 2013 I have brought flowers on board in New York (Brooklyn), Seattle, Fort Lauderdale, and Buenos Aries. I am about to find out if it is possible in Barcelona, as well!
giselleacttwo Posted November 29, 2013 #3 Share Posted November 29, 2013 You won't have any problems bringing any flowers on board in any foreign or domestic ports, only taking them off.
jamesnnb Posted November 30, 2013 Author #4 Share Posted November 30, 2013 Thanks! That's great. We did it in Los Angeles and it was easy. Wanted to do it again.
YumYumSweetiePie Posted November 30, 2013 #5 Share Posted November 30, 2013 Out of curiosity, are you guys bringing flowers on board because they're nice to have in the cabin or for a special occasion (e.g. birthday of someone you're meeting up with on board)? jamesnnb Posted November 30, 2013 Author #6 Share Posted November 30, 2013 We are bringing them as they seem fresher and smell better/longer than ordering on board and having them delivered. Just nice to have in the cabin.

I bought some in Papeete because I love tropical flowers and I can't get them where I live. I was able to enjoy them in my cabin for 8 sea days before I had to get off the ship. :o
Fletch1 Posted November 30, 2013 #11 Share Posted November 30, 2013 We bought some back on board in Honolulu. As we were returning to the ship in the late afternoon, there was a flower stall set up in the shed and they were selling them at half price so we bought 3 big bunches back on. gooch47 Posted November 30, 2013 #12 Share Posted November 30, 2013 (edited) I bought some in Papeete because I love tropical flowers and I can't get them where I live. I was able to enjoy them in my cabin for 8 sea days before I had to get off the ship. :o This has been many years ago, but we saw some beautiful arrangements at a Farmer's Market type place near where the ship was docked in Papeete. I really wanted some but was hesitant. They were ridiculously cheap, too. But when I asked at the gangplank when we boarded, they said they weren't allowed because they we're afraid you would bring bugs on board. Agree we have brought flowers on in the US, northern European ports and Mediterranean cruises, never had a problem anywhere. Can't imagine it would be any different in Canada. Rare TracieABD Posted November 30, 2013 #14 Share Posted November 30, 2013 FYI- If you bring a bouquet (instead of an arrangement), your cabin steward will bring you a vase. Our last steward even maintained the water in the vase!:)

Many have posted in the past about bringing on flowers from the market in Papeete. Not sure why it was different on your cruise.

People were bringing them onboard the Sapphire in droves earlier this month.
gooch47 Posted December 1, 2013 #17 Share Posted December 1, 2013 Like I said, it was many years ago. I even thought at the time they just wanted to sell us flowers on board.
