skt4cruise Posted December 7, 2013 #4 Share Posted December 7, 2013 (edited) We went several years ago on the Marco Polo. Look at Fjiords Norway cruises, we had the stop in St. Pburg and then flew to Moscow for the day, dinner at The Writers Club, a dream trip! The excursion to Moscow was a ship tour, very busy day, The Kremlin, Red Square, the gorgeous subway. Do try to find an itinerary like this one, it was a trip of a lifetime! Oh yes, shopping at Gum in Moscow. 7 course dinner with so many drinks at the Writers, a string quartet. Enjoy the planning...most of the Baltic cruises are late summer. Lastdance Posted December 8, 2013 #8 Share Posted December 8, 2013 Any one know if Celebrity has cruises to Russia? If yes what ship and when is the best time to go weather wise? Thanks Just keep in mind that there is very little air conditioning in St. Petersburg. It can be very hot in July/Aug. too. However, the weather is something out of everyone's control! The_Big_M Posted December 9, 2013 #12 Share Posted December 9, 2013 I wouldn't call a visit to St Petersburg a cruise to Russia though. It's a bit like saying a visit to LA is a cruise to the US...
alcpa1 Posted December 9, 2013 #13 Share Posted December 9, 2013 Celebrity, RCI, and sister Azamara offer Baltic cruises usually sailing from late May, early June to the middle or end of September. Your ports of embarkation could be Southampton or Harwich, Amsterdam, Oslo Copenhagen or Stockholm. The Baltic cruises spend either one two or three nights in St. Petersburg. If your main focus is St. Petersburg then the Baltic sailings are the best option. Please consult the Ports of Call boards with all your questions addressed promptly. River cruises from Moscow to St. Petersburg or the reversed itinerary, will provide a more in depth experience. The last time we were there at the end of July it was 100 in St. Petersburg. And the poster who noted a general lack of air conditioning is absolutely correct.
