Rare geoherb Posted December 19, 2013 #102 Share Posted December 19, 2013 We met a woman on one Princess cruise who did have an outfit for every theme night. I don't remember ever having a '60s/'70s night, but they had a '50s theme and a country western night and of course island night.

On second thought I'd better not tell my daughter about any theme nights or she might need another suitcase to pack eveything - LOL.
Rare mrell345 Posted December 19, 2013 #104 Share Posted December 19, 2013 actually it would kind of make sense if capt yeomans handed over to the new capt jus before the crown starts her voyage around south america end of feb.
AZ Ocean Lover Posted December 19, 2013 #105 Share Posted December 19, 2013 I am so disappointed with the changes Pia mentioned. IMO the IC is (was?) one of the best things going on Princess. How can they get rid of popular favorites like the cashew chicken salad and grilled veggie salad for the new ones mentioned, YUK, none of them sound appealing to me. I can not believe the decisions Princess makes sometimes. Is it all about cutbacks and not caring about customer satisfaction (likes and preferences) these days? :( PS, Thanks for your live report Pia I think the new menu items look yummy. I also like it when the cruises mix things up a bit. Granted, you don't have to throw out everything with a new menu but life would be too boring if there wasn't a little change. Pia1913 Posted December 20, 2013 Author #106 Share Posted December 20, 2013 It’s Friday, a sea day and the cruise is almost over. Weather has been great all the way and today looks like it will be more of the same. Last night was fun; sitting in the casino waiting for the machines to come on. We left port as scheduled a little past 7 and casino was to open at 8. Something went wrong with the computer and when we finally gave up and left (at 9:45) all the rebooting hadn’t helped. About 9 they started taking drink orders from those who were waiting and Mike and I each had monster size frozen margaritas. On the house. Twenty minutes later they came around wanting to do another round. We declined. Friends who had gone to see the hypnotist said she was awful. But I already told you that. So what’s happening today, you ask? 1. Stateroom movie: A Christmas Carol 2. The Outlet Sale. Ooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhh3. Dirty Dancing on MUTS 4. Culinary demo in the theater 5. Disembarkation talk 6. Art Presentation 7. Bingo 8. Pub lunch And this is only the morning. Afternoon brings us a backstage tour, wine tasting (we’re going), navigational chart auction, ice carving demo, Scrooge on MUTS, and something I’ve never seen during the day; The International Crew Show at 4:30. This evening Steve Moris is doing another show in the theater, Now you See Me is on MUTS and Ye Olde Pub Night will be in Explorers. We enjoyed the pub night on the Royal in October and now it appears as if they are going to do it on the entire fleet. Lots of fun, so if you get the opportunity, don’t miss it. OnVacation11 Posted December 20, 2013 #112 Share Posted December 20, 2013 I was looking forward to trying the roasted veggies, but I love beets and the couscous sounds good too. I'll try just about anything and will wait to make up my mind until I've tasted things. Thanks for the updates. Haven't been on a ship with an IC yet, and am looking forward to it. They had the couscous salad on the Emerald this past week and it was very tasty (for us). The traditional chicken salad was there too but no shrimp salad. Pia1913 Posted December 20, 2013 Author #113 Share Posted December 20, 2013 "See" you Sunday! :) Not sure if I'll do it, Jan. It's only a four day cruise. Never did one of those so don't know how many minutes they give. BTW, they erected a large gingerbread "town" in the Atrium; sometime in the middle of the night. It's cute, but not one of the best holiday decorations we've seen previously.
Pia1913 Posted December 20, 2013 Author #114 Share Posted December 20, 2013 IC UPDATE Food guy told me today they are playing around with a total of 21 different salads, so who knows what you will find. Today, the Thai salad was there, but they also had chicken salad (very mayonnaisey with curry in it), greek salad returned and shrimp salad (not as you know it; with fennel). There has been no sign of couscous. INTERNET INFO It's been fantastic. All postings have been done from my cabin; never walked into the cafe all week. Log on has been quick and timely. Hope it continues for you folks boarding shortly.
Lynda90 Posted December 20, 2013 #115 Share Posted December 20, 2013 Hi Pia and Marcia, have not checked this page all week so I just read the thread. Glad you are having a great time and I've enjoyed the read. Wish I was there too! Have a safe trip home and I'll look forward to hearing something on the 4 day cruise! Pia, we sailed together last year at about this time. New Year's Eve, if I remember correctly! :p

Pia1913 Posted December 20, 2013 Author #117 Share Posted December 20, 2013 Just reporting in after wine tasting which I don't usually do anymore, but this was the first Elite cruise for our friends, so we accompanied them. New selections at wine tasting: 1. Chardonnay, Simi, California 2. Pouilly Fuisse Chardonnay, Val de Loire, France 3. Ferrari-Carano, Merlot, Sonoma, Calif. 4. Casa Lapostole, Cabernet Sauvignon, Rapel Valley, Chile The dessert wine Errazuriz is still the same. =================================== Icat: what am I supposed to do with 300 minutes for 4 days? Too bad I can't bank them for another cruise. Lynda: Yes, we did do NYE. I wanted NY again this year, but cost was way out of line. For some reason, they gave away the Ruby Xmas cruise. Not complaining. See you all later. I still have minutes. :D

Pia1913 Posted December 21, 2013 Author #121 Share Posted December 21, 2013 And a good evening to you all. Our big decision after dinner was which show to attend, so we went to the casino and "chucked" both shows. I donated a few dollars to the slots; very few. Four bucks to be exact. Just put our suitcase out. Good thing we have our car, because that case would not pass airline weight allowance. We turned in the bottle of champagne that we received for being #2 and were given a nice box of fattening Godiva chocolates in its stead. I didn't want the bubbly because it's yucky stuff and we don't care for it, but I also didn't want the fat stuff either. Mike won that round. :p Nothing else to say. Will bid you all adios in the morning. Time to finish my book.
