jerseygirl3 Posted December 15, 2013 #1 Share Posted December 15, 2013 We've booked interior cabin 1048 on Noordam. Someone mentioned it is beneath the disco (I normally check out those things, but neglected to this time). Anyway, there is also a cabin available in the same location, but starboard side, and it's under the Piano Bar. Does anybody have any experience with a cabin under the disco on Noordam? Gives the typical demographics on HAL, I'm guessing the disco isn't too lively late at night, but just thought I would get opinions from those who have been in cabins in that location. RuthC Posted December 15, 2013 #2 Share Posted December 15, 2013 I have. I never heard a thing, but then I could sleep through the Second Coming. :D I've stayed in the Main Deck forward area inside cabins on many of the Vista/Signature ships, but usually on starboard, and usually a little further back from your cabin. The area above slightly more mid-ship, starboard, is a passageway, or the area between the Queen's Lounge and the Casino. There's nothing there to make noise. I wouldn't switch to under the Piano Bar. Not only is there a similar chance of noise, but it's too far to walk to any place aft of mid-ship. BJane Posted December 15, 2013 #3 Share Posted December 15, 2013 We had a cabin under a piano bar once. (Can't remember which ship it was). We could not hear the entire song, only the thump of the base notes! It was very annoying.
Typhoon1 Posted December 15, 2013 #4 Share Posted December 15, 2013 You will hear noise from the disco above. Bass tends to reverberate to anything nearby.
jerseygirl3 Posted December 15, 2013 Author #5 Share Posted December 15, 2013 I know cabin 1048 is 207 sq. ft. Anybody know if I go to a Cat. I on deck 6 (specifically 6067 or 6071) if they are the same size?

catl331 Posted December 16, 2013 #8 Share Posted December 16, 2013 I would never book a stateroom beneath the (Northern Lights) Disco, Galley, Lido Pool Deck (or adjacent/across from the 'Launderettes'! ;) The best verandah cabin we ever had was under the Lido pool deck on the Nieuw A. The only time we heard noise was the night of the Dessert Extravaganza, for about 90 minutes.
Rare Hlitner Posted December 16, 2013 #9 Share Posted December 16, 2013 You might want to consider that music in the piano bar usually ends by midnight. But the disco often blasts music until nearly 2 am....assuming there is anyone awake :) Hank
Homosassa Posted December 16, 2013 #10 Share Posted December 16, 2013 There will be loud noise every night that you will hear in your cabin under the disco. Under the Piano Bar will be better.
jerseygirl3 Posted December 17, 2013 Author #11 Share Posted December 17, 2013 (edited) Ok, so I called my TA today and changed my cabin to 8049. My understanding is that it is the largest of the interior cabins (233 sq ft) besides the accessible cabins. It cost $20/pp more to move to this cabin because it's a cat "I" and I was previously in a "J". But that $40 will be well worth it, I think Edited December 17, 2013 by jerseygirl3
