Vexorg Posted December 19, 2013 #1 Share Posted December 19, 2013 I am currently waiting to disembark the Emerald Princess at FLL, and we are being advised that disembarkation is being delayed about an hour at this time, so it is likely there may be embarkation delays for people boarding today. OCruisers Posted December 19, 2013 #2 Share Posted December 19, 2013 Any idea of why disembarkation was delayed? LuLu
Rare PescadoAmarillo Posted December 19, 2013 #3 Share Posted December 19, 2013 Disembarkation was delayed due to immigration and customs backup and newly arriving passengers appeared not to have experienced delayed boarding, which was a surprise. caribill Posted December 19, 2013 #4 Share Posted December 19, 2013 (edited) I am currently waiting to disembark the Emerald Princess at FLL, and we are being advised that disembarkation is being delayed about an hour at this time. This helps answer the question asked many times: "Can I make my flight at 9:30 AM at FLL?" Edited December 19, 2013 by caribill
Pam in CA Posted December 19, 2013 #5 Share Posted December 19, 2013 (edited) This helps answer the question asked many times: "Can I make my flight at 9:30 AM at FLL?"And why I get frustrated by some saying, "Sure, no problem. Done it dozens of times." I've disembarked in FLL many times and sometimes it's OK, other times, disembarkation didn't even start until after 9am with people weeping and gnashing their teeth, screaming to get off the ship because they were missing their early flight. How True! Not only can disembarkation be delayed sometimes but also the traffic getting to the airport can be a problem if there's a wreck or something. OCruisers Posted December 19, 2013 #8 Share Posted December 19, 2013 Yes, Ft. Lauderdale .... on that road that leads around to the airport exit there had been a really bad accident and traffic was backed up and took us forever to get past it. Enter from SR-84, cutting through air cargo. Enter from Griffin road. From the perimeter road, you can cut through cell phone waiting lot, and be right at the (arrival) terminals. Then, just walk upstairs. If you waited, it was only because your driver wasn't familiar with the area, or didn't try to use an alternate.

antsp Posted December 19, 2013 #11 Share Posted December 19, 2013 Looks like she's leaving now...couple hours behind schedule. Anyone know why she was late leaving, is it because of the late disembarkation
Rare PescadoAmarillo Posted December 19, 2013 #12 Share Posted December 19, 2013 Scuttlebutt (which I tend to believe, given the strange announcements and heavy police presence) is that a passenger was transporting drugs in his checked luggage, was found out, tried to elude arrest by refusing to report to the PSD, ship went on "lost person" alert, man surrendered and was escorted off the ship.
