To cl or not to cl that is the question!

To the OP:

The CL is still available to D+, Pinnacle and Suite Guests. Until RCCL says otherwise, why would you expect them to answer your questions with a definitive yes or no? They have no idea what any possible new policy will be in the coming months or years.:o

Me thinks you need to sit back, pour yourself a nice libation and RELAX!!

I´m sorry, but I fail to understand how responding to your Posts is minimizing and nit picking it.

I agree with you on consumer power, I just don´t see it underestimated, not here on the boards and not from RCI.

I´ve been on here Long enough and through enough changes from RCI to know People will raise hell for any changes (and for any unfounded rumor of changes:rolleyes:) and threaten - on here - to never cruise RCI again, but you year after year you Keep seeing them posting here about their Cruises with RCI and their signatures being filled with countdown clocks to RCI Cruises. Just as an example D´s were thrown out of the CL and RCI is still afloat.

Consumer Power Needs to be executed in real life by turning your back to the Company, it´s not executed by threatening to do so on a message board like CC.

On a side note, if RCI is thinking about this (and yes it´s still a big IF until any announcement is made) they might not even shed a tear about seeing some of those People threatening to leave, to actually leave. After all those are most likely the most demanding and entitled people they have. It´s those People that will cruise but spend no extra Money onboard at all, but will occupy the CL/DL whenever they can get anything for "free". I´m pretty sure RCI rather have room for some big Spenders.

BTW, I´m partly one of those I described above. In These days I rarely book any shore excursions with RCI, I don´t Need any more pics, My bar tab has always been very low, I don´t do specialty Restaurants, ......

Only difference is while I do enjoy the CL for maybe an hour pre-dinner (often times I don´t even have a drink other than a glass of OJ or water) the loss of that priviledge would not be a deal breaker to me.

I Cruises for the ship, ports, Relaxing vacation time. I don´t cruise for perks. I have not put any "hard work", as some Claim, into "earning" These priviledges, they just came to me whilst I enjoyed my travel around the world. I would have taken those trips without the perks or the outlook at any perks. I appreciate anything given to me, but it´s not the reason for booking.

REALLY? WHATEVER!!!

I'll never get over the fascination people have with the Concierge Lounge. Mediocre drinks and pigs in a blanket with a bunch of septuagenarians.... It's got all the appeal of an airport lounge. No thanks...

13 Years + 4 months before this Diamond+ member becomes a sepaug, sptepua, septage...reaches 70!

I recommend the Concierge Lounge for that drink. They're free there, y'know. ;)

Actually the Admiral's club has fewer oldies, but no good food.... Plus it costs hundreds per year.... still when I am in an airport with one, I rush in....

D+ since I was in my early 40's , I am now 51

Do you envy me more now.....

I could take offense........but won't.

Please try to think a little more before you post such ricidulous generic statements.

If you don't like cruising with pax of various ages, then it's simple.... stay away.

Very interesting how I am getting flamed because it's not my cup of tea. I've been in the CL on three cruises: two on Oasis and once on Allure. While I found the club to be a nice room, I honestly felt like I was in an airport lounge. And yes, I too race to airport lounges, because they are by far the nicest place to kill time at the airport. However, when I was on Oasis and Allure, I found many more enjoyable places to sit. As for the "ridiculous generic statement". On my cruises, I found there was an overwhelming propensity for the lounges to be occupied by seniors who were content to sit there and chat amongst themselves.

I'm sorry if my casual comment was somehow a personal offense to you. I was only speaking from my experiences. I'm happy they have the lounges for those who enjoy them. But if it's alright for people to perseverate about every detail about them around here, then I feel equally entitled to comment that I don't really get the appeal.

Don't cherry pick...The replies have been stomping on the OP.

If it is of interest to the OP, so be it.

I'm not sure if you're aware but the OP on other threads has been on a mission to remove D+ from the CL. I'm sure it wasn't just an innocent inquiry to RCI. The OP is also on Celebrity boards advocating for the termination of reciprocity. Once you starting messing with other people's benefits, they're gonna' get annoyed.

This just goes to show some of the more ignorant and moronic posts get the same air time as a well thought out reply. Have been fortunate enough to "enjoy" the concierge lounge for 10 years now and have met some of the nicest and interesting people in there over the years, from 30's to 80's! By the way 55 here and looking forward to the Grandeur CL very soon.....K.O.:)

Yes we have met some fantastic people in the CL too over the years. Have met and come in contact with some undesirable people too. Have learned over the years to stay far away for those folk who like to brag and hold court in the CL. For the most part have enjoyed meeting folk in the CL and thoroughly enjoy it, and so what if it is like an airport lounge!!!!!

What I find the most disturbing is folk who want to boot D+ out of the CL!!!We travel 3 or 4 times a year and almost always have a ship board account that is at least as much as one of the cruise fares paid. These nay sayer people are either not D+, are Pinnacle and believe there are above being prohibited from the CL, or are just blow hards. I cant imagine there are that many people who travel several times a year, every year while always in a suite.

Why is that so hard to imagine? I'm sure there are many who travel that way.

OK, let's break it down. No one is flaming you; they're flaming your characterization of the CL experience. Here's my take:

"Mediocre drinks" - shucks, I thought they were pretty good drinks with top-shelf booze and quality mixers.

"pigs in a blanket" - I'm not certain but perhaps we've had a few of these in the CL however the shrimp, scallops and other goodies made a more lasting impression.

"bunch of septuagenarians" - Yeah, there were a bunch of those on our last cruise and thank God for that. They were they only ones with anything interesting to say. Boy, could they tell some stories!

So it's not your cup of tea, I get that. It's your characterization of that cup of tea that many take issue with. You see, it IS my cup of tea.

Every cruise lounge is different. Depends on the people cruising the week/or more of your vacation. Sometimes I really enjoy the lounge, others times it is a yawn! But never would I say I would not try it again.

Like table mates, some good some funny some oh nooooo, lets eat somewhere else tonight to get away from them.

But that is the challenge of travel - i love the challenges!

I will be diamond after my next cruise in march - so if they are going to take away that priviledge, it will after that and before I get to use it as a Diamond and, not as a suite guest!

If you think they are going to tell you, a lowly traveller with an over zealous curiosity you are nuts, they will tell us when/if any changes are made when they are ready, and no "nasty" emails will change that!

Hoping Not to meet you on a cruise! you sound like a nut!!

On my first two cruises, I was unable to get top shelf booze (no Bombay Sapphire, no Grey Goose). On the third one, I didn't even bother trying. Perhaps I was unlucky? Are top shelf spirits routinely served in the complimentary beverage service of the CL?

As was quoted in an earlier post , won't name names but anyone who posts here knows who I'm referring to when I say they seem to elicit some perverse pleasure in "hoping" that the D+ folks are banned from the CL. Have met many D+ and Pinnacles over the years who are wonderful and interesting folks. There is one Pinnacle couple I have met and have steered clear of ever since. And can honestly say only one couple. They are obnoxious, demanding, and terrible dressers ( ok sorry had to sneak that one in there;)). Also John you made a valid point about onboard spending in the shops, casino's, etc.The few and it is very few that wish others perks be reduced and or taken away are for the most part blowhards that like to here themselves talk. RCL keeps close track of your onboard accounts and spending habits, if your enrolled in the Casino Royale Club, they know what you happily donate to the casino, Specialty Restaurants, jewelry, etc....Thanks for your post and happy cruising!....K.O...Will be on Grandeur, Allure B2B, and Explorer and one other cruise in 2014, if your on any of these I'll buy you an adult beverage in the CL..:)

I've never seen top-shelf booze in any CL. Smirnoff or Finlandia vodka, not sure of the gin (it might be Tanqueray, which I think qualifies as top shelf, but I don't drink gin so haven't paid attention), Jack Daniels bourbon and Dewar's scotch. The house wine is St. Martin, swillable, but not high quality. Mixers are similarly basic. It's all fine, but not top shelf, IMO.
