Turning 1 STAR to 2 STAR on our next sailing

Recommended Posts

On our next cruise in September we will be turning two star guests on the last day of our sailing.

Do we get the perks of a two star guest during that particular sailing? Or do we have to wait until two cruises from now?

Will we get a better coupon booklet in our cabin? Better discounts on internet packages or coffee discounts?

Sorry, you won't actually get the change until "7 to 10 days" after your cruise ends. :( As far as a "better booklet" --- I only know of one kind, and it's not very useful to most people. Nobody below 5* gets any break on internet prices.

And what if the cruise is a B2B?

I am sailing the Noordam next week for a first cruise, and doing another cruise on her directly after. Will I receive the perks on the second part of the B2B? Or will this count as 1 cruise and will I have to wait for another booking in order to receive the benefits?

You will probably not automatically get the new perks on a B2B because of the 7-10 day citation. Recommend you go to the front desk on the 2nd cruise, when they are not too busy, and nicely ask about getting your new 2 star perks on that cruise. Maybe they will do it and maybe they will not.

The coupon books -- when you get them -- have not changed in years. We have gotten them a few times and never used one coupon. You have to spend big dollars to get a little something free.

Only 5 star Mariners get a discount on one of the internet packages -- 100 minutes for half price.

Coffee discounts begin with 3 stars -- 25% off and 4 and 5 stars get 50% off.

As rule back-to-back cruises are booked as Collectors Cruises -- thus it is one cruise.

And the rules are the same -- after that cruise and on your next cruise you will get the benefits of your new status.

This is correct however I do recall at least one instance where someone in that situation reported that they did get the new status on the second half of a B2B so you might want to check.

The only thing I have ever used on the booklet is free $5 worth of chips in the casino.

The only onboard benefits that a two star mariner gets that a one star doesn't is a photo of the ship and a 10% discount on logo clothing (subject to exclusions). Stay out of the shops, forget the photo and enjoy your cruise.

I agree. We just cruised on the Maasdam, my first cruise after I turned 2 star. I forgot to ask for my free photo of the ship! (I think I will survive without it). I didn't buy any logo clothing so that didn't benefit me either.

My husband turned 2 star on this cruise. He received his 2 star lapel pin at the end of the cruise.

I become 2 star on my next cruise. No big deal. There aren't to many bennies until you get to 4 or 5 star. Since we don't cruise more than 11 days the free laundry isn't too tempting. Discount in the pinnacle are though.

I cruise mainly HAL and Princess. I am level 3 on Princess (50 days or more) and I get 250 minutes internet on a >8 day tour. Compartment this to HAL.
