Packing hints-everything actually fits in 1 suitcase?

If you do a sport jacket and tie you will be in the majority on formal nights. If you wear a Tux you will stares. I found that out a few weeks ago on Reflection. Celebrity has gone the way of other cruise lines. Formal night, just ain't formal anymore. No enforcement.

Been on 3 X cruises in past 4 months and sorry!! Men wearing a Tux did NOT get stares. In fact, men who were not dressed in a suit or Tux got the stares. We were on the Silly, Eclipse and Equinox.

Send the suit home by mail. :p

Be aware that mailing from Europe to Canada can be very expensive. My Xmas gifts for my Canadian friends cost me 36 Euros in stamps each year (for a 2-5kg box). I don´t know how much the French charge, but I would rather pay the Airline for a 2nd suitcase than mailing anything from Europe (at least from Germany) overseas. Before planning to mail, check the French mail prices.

For travel of 28-35 days. We travel with 2 checked bags and 1 carry on. 1 of the checked bags is a rolling garment bag that will hold 1 mens suit, 1 pair of mens slacks, 4 polo shirts & 2 dress shirts & ties. For me, 2 formal night dresses, 1 skirt, 1pair of slacks and 6 tops. In addition pockets in the garment bag hold 2 pair of shoes, our workout clothes and some socks/undies. Everything arrives unwrinkled.

I don't think I would know how to pack without the garment bag:)

There is NO WAY to get 4 22" suitcases into a typical European rental car with 4 adults!! One of ours plus backpack takes up almost the entire 'trunk', and the other suitcase goes on the back seat with the carryon. We have done this A LOT and know of what we speak. So for the poster on the 60 day vacation, you will need to rent a large car (for Europe) or you will be miserable with suitcases on your laps!!

Must be very different on those three ships than on the other two in that class. We've been on Solstice and Reflection twice each, and tuxes were in the minority on all. We saw everything from suits to coat and tie to coat with no tie to just a dress shirt with no coat OR tie. And I don't recall anyone "getting stares." Then again, I really don't spend my time looking around to see if anyone is staring at anyone else. I will have to make a mental note to look around Equinox on formal night this summer though, so I can see all the people in tuxes staring at the guys in sport coats. ;)

You misread my posting. I did not say that people in tuxes staring at the guys in sport coats. Another defender of the 'casual class?'

Last summer we flew to Frankfort, rented a car and did three weeks of land-based travel with friends. Our rental car was a Mercedes station wagon. It was a superb touring car, very compact and comfortable and had room for 4 carry-on wheeled bags - 20 inch to 23 inch - plus one backpack, all under the rear pull-out security barrier. The Mercedes wagon was not a large car, even by European standards.

Ok then, my bad. Who exactly was doing the staring and who were they staring at?

I didn't read the entire thread, so maybe someone already posted this link. This video helped me when I had to go on our last cruise of 11 days. I got a lot packed into one suitcase.

How to pack your suitcase

Love your tip and the u-tube video. Have saved it to my computer. Going to Europe in May after cruise with DS & DIL and DS keeps reminding me that I can only have one suitcase as we will going on some trains.

THANK YOU:D
