Recommended Posts

we will be on enchantment of the seas this next week. i think that we will be doing a lot of our meals, esp. breakfast in our cabin,, do they put tips on your card all the time or is it only between certain hrs, also what is the normal tip to give them when they bring it to your room? there will be 2 of us in the room.thank you so for answering the questions that some of us ask, over, and over, and over again. you guys are a blessing to the ones that doesn't do cruising on a reg, basis. by the time we get around to our next cruise, either things has changed or we are to old to remember,

You just fill out a card the night before and hand it on your door with a requested time. We just keep singles in the room and give like $2 if we order something. We dont usually order from them as the menu is so limited. You can also go up to the WJ and get a plate and cover to bring back to your balcony.

There is a charge of $3.95 per order late at night. Used to be midnight to 5am, but I read a report recently that late night now starts at 10pm. You can add a gratuity to that charge if you like and it will go on your SeaPass card.

Otherwise we do as mentioned above, a few dollars cash per order, depending on the size of the order.

Unless you are in a suite with a real dining table, you may find eating full meals off a coffee table to be uncomfortable!

You can also call in your order on the cabin phone, for other meals/snacks. Because there is no charge for room service items, their is no signing....so no tip is added. Tip a couple bucks in cash at time of delivery.

Can you be more specific about the 10:00 start time for the late night charge. Where did you see this? This is the first I'm hearing about that change.

I wish I could but I didn't keep the link. Possibly it was a post by Carol (Merion Mom) who was on Indy recently. It was the first I heard about it too.

RS tips are cash only and upon delivery.. anywhere from $1-10 is considered appropriate based on what you order( it all comes at once) late night( midnight to about 5 am) there is a service charge that is automatically added that you must sign for.

every ship does have some leeway to impose or not these things. EN did things differently out of Baltimore than what GR does now.

I can confirm that the charge started at 10pm on the indy(December). My daughter was quite upset as she likes to order about 1130pm for something lite before bed.

Why? She'd be tipping anyway. I usually stop at the Cafe Promanade for a couple of cookies and some tea on my way back from the casino at night so I don't have to wait for room service so she could always do that.

quite upset? sheesh

22 and melodramatic (Grad student in college and she is very good at watching her/my money)... Dad pays for all including tips so it shouldn't have mattered.. but it did to her... I told her to chill and not worry about it.

enough about my daughter lets get back on topic

I've never paid the service charge; as midnight is just too late for me to eat, but 10 PM might be different... does the charge hit based on when you order, or at some other point in the process of delivery?

Delivery.
