RS79 Posted January 28, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 28, 2014 My dw and I have just booked a cruise on Royal Princess for this summer. I noticed on the deck plans that there is no Skywalkers, which is where they typically have the elite hors d'oeuvres before dinner on most ships. Does Royal still do the hors d'oeuvres before dinner, and if so, where? Thanks.
Astro Flyer Posted January 28, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 28, 2014 On the Royal in October with over 1200 elites onboard it was held in the larger Vista lounge. Others have posted having it in the smaller Club6 location near the Princess Theater.
tothemall&beyond Posted January 28, 2014 #3 Share Posted January 28, 2014 I assume that, as always, it also includes Platinums, not just Elites.
Astro Flyer Posted January 28, 2014 #4 Share Posted January 28, 2014 (edited) I assume that, as always, it also includes Platinums, not just Elites. Absolutely...elite, platinum & suite passengers. :) My Royal TA had more than twice as many elites as the Crown's TA we sailed on with you in 2012. Edited January 28, 2014 by Astro Flyer

The set up was very tiny compared to the Crown last week, and the red overhead lighting made it very difficult to see what the food actually was. drakes2 Posted January 29, 2014 #6 Share Posted January 29, 2014 On our recent Royal sailing it was held in Club 6. We were there every evening for the $5 martinis and a good selection of appetizers. Especially enjoyed the smoked salmon and blue cheese. Met our dinner companions on the last night for pre dinner drinks and a leisurely chat. In December it was held in Club 6 on the Royal. Rare Waynetor Posted January 29, 2014 #8 Share Posted January 29, 2014 We did b2B earlier this month - it was in Club 6. The first time we went was on the Cosmo/shrimp night - we got there at 5:15 and it was very busy. It took over a half hour to get served. We only went a couple other times and service was better. Remember that you can order any of the daily drink specials on any night for the same price.

The guacamole looked like re-fried beans (brown instead of green) and I've never seen pink carrots :p! Looked unappetizing but tasted delicious. boca7 Posted January 31, 2014 #11 Share Posted January 31, 2014 Club 6 on deck 6 next to the casino, beautiful to look at but much smaller & designed very poorly for comfort. Everything else on the ship is great. Also they are not offering rob roy`s that the other ships serve & the buffet offering is smaller. Like everything else, cut down philosophy. It does not totally change the taste but I can taste the difference. BTW including the seed in the guacamole will deter it turning brown quite so fast. No it was the lighting -- once I took the guacamole to our table the color was 'normal' green. They place the snacks under the disco/nightclub lighting and it changes the color of lots of the food (the carrots really were a lovely pink in that light :D).
