Hello... We are arriving in Fort Lauderdale late Saturday from Canada . We are staying at Hollywood Beach Hotel and will be getting shuttle to cruise port next morning and would like to pick up two bottles of wine to take on board with us. Does anyone know if there is a wine store close to port? Is there a place we could meet our friends prier to embarkment within walking distance of ship??

Total Wines is a popular outlet just outside the port, but the shuttle won't stop there for you to go shopping. You might be better off looking for something close to your hotel. Alternatively, if you are taking a taxi from the airport to the hotel upon arrival, see if there is something along the way. Final suggestion: get your friends to pick up your bottles. :)

Well, first of all, you don't want to be walking to the ship. Port Everglades is a huge commercial port, and it's not conducive to foot traffic. You'll want to take your shuttle (or cab) all the way to the ship.

Sorry, don't have any idea where the Hollywood Beach Hotel is, but there is a great shopping center on 17th St. (near the Embassy Suites). They have a Total Wines and More, as well as a Publix Supermarket.

Please be aware that liquor sales are prohibited in FL on Sunday mornings.

Yes.. Our friends said they would pick it up but we likely won't meet up with them till we get on the ship as they are staying in Miami and they want to bring two bottles on for themselves. That why I was wondering if there was a place we could meet before boarding ship. Thanks for your response .

We have asked cab drivers to take us by the Total Wine on 17th street on the way to the port from the airport several times and I just run in and pick up two bottles of wine and run out. Fare is still only $25 plus tip. Since you are coming in on Saturday, as wwcruisers says, you will have to buy your wine on Saturday since they don't sell it on Sunday morning. You can just ask your cab driver where a liquor store or a Publix is on your way to the hotel. If you don't have a particularly expensive wine in mind, you can probably find it at Publix.

Or call your hotel and ask if their is a Publix or liquor store within walking distance.

If you can, get your wine late Saturday night at a grocery store in Holleywood. Sunday's you can't buy wine till noon . If not, as mentioned there is a Total Wine Store on 17th street before you enter the port area.

Total Wine is fantastic. We were completely shocked to find wine from our small winery there for purchase ! It is not a well-known winery and very small, yet we could find our favorite wine for purchase in Ft Lauderdale all the way from Califormia:D

along with wine, do they sell any other beverages like soda? bottled water?

Just wondering

Yes. But if you're not going there for wine you might do better at the Publix grocery store in the same shopping center as Total Wine. There is also a Walgreens Drugstore right on the corner of 17th Street and the road that goes into the port that would have soda and bottled water.
