If you purchase pre-cruise, your credit card will be charged immediately.

When you purchase on line they do bill you right then..but then you can start drinking right when you get on. Its hard to purchase right now but you will really enjoy it..especially if you guys like to party. Its nice not having to be concerned about your bill at the end..Its also nice to order whatever drinks you want & not have to worry about the price of it. Its also nice to try new drinks..& if you don;t care for it, you can just order something different.. Enjoy!! :)

Offhand, I can't think of any drinks over $10. Maybe some with the premium liquors. Here's a drink menu from Gambee:

I got the drink package on m Jan cruise and it was AMAZING

Not like I got sloshed every night, but its nice to be able to try so many different things and if you dont feel like drinking all of a drink, you definitely dont feel like you HAVE to! you can easily make it worth the money

I would have one or two drinks in the morning, usually a mimosa or a bellini!

I'd usually have a drink or two around lunch time.

In the afternoon, laying out in the solarium by the bar, at least 4-5 drinks there

At dinner, a glass or two of wine

At night, easily 4-5 during shows and activities

And its so enjoyable. Its nice to pay before hand so you dont have that added expense! Im hoping to save up enough to pay for me and my husband to get one for our next cruise!

My son and I are on the cruise with you. I was on the roll call early on but it has actually been very quie so I haven't posted anything for quite some time.

As for the drink packagae. I did it on the last cruise for the first time and was really happy about it. Like you, I stressed pre-cruise about the calcualtions on breaking even, how much I had to drink, etc but in the end I did just fine in terms of value and really never overindulged. It just takes about 5-8 drinks per day to be even, depending on the type of drink you order.

The hard part for me was the fact it was a 7 day cruise and it is hard for me to drink constantly for 7 days. This is a 5 day cruise with only two port days so it should be much easier to accomplish, especially since you said you like to drink. Also, if you plan on being at the pool most days, drinks tend to go down much easier and quicker so you will be happy with the package if that is a place you hang out frequently.

Other things to consider as positives: You would have a pre-set bill (or even pre-paid if you do it online before you leave) so if money is an issue you won't have to worry about tracking spending- at least for your drinking, don't have to sign receipts for each drink, you can try different things to see if you like it or not, it includes sodas so you don't have to always drink alcohol and that has to offset some of the cost if you would normally buy them anyway.

It includes mixed drinks like Jack/Coke, vodka/cran. bloody mary, screwdriver, even some champagne so you can really find a drink for all hours of the day :D. I can't think of a time when I wanted something that was not covered by the package but I think I knew more about it then so I was prepared on what I could and could not get.

I guess the best way to look at the cost to make your self feel better and make a decision is by asking yourslef what you would expect your normal bar tab to be? If it is near the $550 anyway then you can't go wrong. If you normally woud spend only $100-$300 but you hold back on doing what you would like to do because of the cost then you have to decide if the extra money is worth it for the conveinances people have mentioned.

By the way, I have decided to not purchase the package this trip because it is a father/son trip and I won't drink enough to justify the cost.......but next cruise I'll be right back on the package deal.

See you on board in 11 days.

I had a drink package on Oasis in December, and although I'm pretty sure I didn't quite drink enough to break even on it, I still don't regret it. It was nice to just order drinks without thinking about how much each one cost, and I could try out whatever I wanted. I had the middle package, I forget which one that is, and I did not run in to any price limitation issues, but then I did not ask for specific brands or anything, and mostly stuck to frozen drinks and wine. If you think you'll have more than a couple of drinks a day, you should be happy with it.

We just got off a 5-day on Liberty. My wife and I had the drink package. I usually drink more than her. We both loved it.

One very enjoyable thing about having the package is that every time we sat somewhere, a lounge, bar, casino, show, trivia contest, dinner, pool deck.. and we were asked if we would like a drink, we said yes! We did not always finish every drink, but it’s always nice to be seated and have one. We tried all types of drinks that we would never have tried and now have some new favorites

I have ordered the package for my next cruise (only for myself as my husband does not drink). I'm really looking forward to ordering cocktails that I've never tried before and not having to worry if I like it or not. I normally only drink wine so this will be a change. Also last year I discovered I really enjoyed the Champagne Bar and it will be nice to sit with a book and a champagne cocktail.

good purchase, totally worth it.

everyone talks about price, $55 per person per day. BUT that figures in the tip/tax. so really, its only $46 per person per day.

we first cruised on our honeymoon. we didn't drink too much because we didn't want to rack up a huge tab. sure a drink costs $x. but then when you sign your receipt its $x + tax/tip. after a few drinks, that adds up.

so cheers to you! enjoy it!

We more than broke even on our recent Allure cruise, even on day one when we couldn't officially drink anything, alcoholic or not, on board the ship until after noon!

Here's how a typical day would go for me. Remember the 15% tip is included in your $55 per day, as others have said, so you start out with $46.75 to "go through."

I am a Diet Coke-a-holic, and if I recall correctly, the soda package is 6.50 (PLUS gratuity--not included in that one). So I take 6.50 off the top every day and end up with $40.25.

We actually rarely had any morning cocktails like a Bellini, Mimosa, or Bloody Mary, so the register didn't start clicking until later on most days.

Usually we would have 2-4 cocktails on the pool deck, in the Solarium, on the sports deck, or wherever else we would happen to be over the course of the day--say from 11 am-noonish to 5. (I was a big fan of the frozen lemonade cocktail.) Average about $7 per cocktail, so about $21 per day there. You're left with $19.25.

At dinner, we would usually have 2-3 glasses of wine at about $10 each. Boom, you've broken even before you have any after-dinner drinks at all (which we almost always did). Then there are drinks at any shows you go to, drinks in the Promenade or wherever else you may socialize after dinner--it adds up very quickly.

I'm not sure my liver could stand to do this every day on a 10-day or 2-week cruise, but it definitely worked for the weeklong version!

Stay thirsty my friends.

YUP! I consider myself a somewhat big drinker. more so when I am with my buddies.

I contemplated getting the drink package on our last cruise but at the time it was stateroom specific and I KNEW my wife wouldn't drink her allotted amount of drinks to make it even close to worth it.

Long story short, I was happy I didn't get it. I think 9 out of 10 times, if your just drinking whatever you want your not going to go over 7 drinks a day. Unless your in your younger 20s and your with your college buddies.

plus you gotta factor in the days your in port.

I will say, it is slightly more appealing to get now that everyone in the stateroom is not required to get it.

We LOVED the package in January on the Allure. You won't regret it!

I will note that Royal's plan (Premium and Ultimate) have the same $ limit for a drink. There is NO limit on how many drinks. My boyfriend orders very high end liquors and we never had an issue with anything not being included. There are very few liquors and they wouldn't be a typical one you would order. Jack is definitely included as is other high end whiskey and bourbons. You might really like Basil Haydens (included).

Anyway, you're paid up in full now...you will be amazed at how low your Onboard account will be when you check out. And you will not feel one bit guilty ordering a Pina Colada or other frozen cocktail...or worry if they made it "strong" enough to get your money's worth...I think that is one thing I liked the most.

Yea we're in our 20s I know we'll be relaxing with a few drinks throughout the day but at night is when the real drinking starts

Big second on the frozen lemonade; that stuff was the perfect drink on a hot afternoon.

You won't regret the drink package for one minute. And the nice thing was, at least when we were on Indy in December, each drink menu clearly lists what is and is not covered--no guessing required. And there was a lot covered, believe me.

Enjoy!
