Rare GeezerCouple Posted April 14, 2014 #26 Share Posted April 14, 2014 I have a question about insurance. We have gone on two cruises in the past with out it but our travel agent for this trip says it was quite risky and we really should get it this trip. We are due to leave on the Norwegian on July 5th and don't know what to do. Any help would be great. We are two adults (40's) and three teens, if that helps at all. There are several suggestions above about vendors who offer insurance from a variety of insurers, and they can help you find the policy that best fits your needs. (Depending upon how long ago you paid your first deposit, some types of coverage might not be available to you.) For example, if the cruise is within the USA (Hawaii, for example), and you have health insurance that will cover you, then you might mostly need coverage for the trip costs. On the other hand, if you are traveling to a foreign country, you might need both. Medi-vac coverage is a good idea no matter what, and isn't expensive, especially compared with the cost should something catastrophic occur. We recommend TripInsuranceStore, having had quite a bit of really useful help from them. GeezerCouple
donaldsc Posted April 15, 2014 #27 Share Posted April 15, 2014 What company do you recommend for travel insurance other than Princess? You need to define your real needs and then compare costs AND coverages. You will probably find that Princess will give you less coverage for more money that almost any other vendor. BTW - we use InsureMyTrip. DON

These include pre-existing condition coverage and "Cancel For Any Reason" (CFAR) coverage. These usually cost a bit extra. However, the CFAR usually doesn't cover 100%; it can vary from approx 50% - 90% depending upon insurance company and type of policy. Check with the folks at TripInsuranceStore.com 888.407.3854 (They have Suncadia service.) Be sure to tell them EXACTLY what types of coverage you want. They'll probably ask you other questions to make sure you get the right policy for your needs. GeezerCouple

Out final payment is at the end of May. If it was not for the risk associated with SPB I probably would not even get the insurance. I will check out your suggestion.
