Ilovepj Posted March 16, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 16, 2014 Hi all, OK this is my first cruise on Princess, so I need to know, if I should call them. When I paid off my cruise, I added money to pre pay my tips, and what I have learned from here it goes as OBC, now on my princess it does not show that amount on the obc, it only shows 15 obc which was something the cruise line gave with the booking. So should I call, or will that just show up when I get on the ship? Thanks for any info. Helen
chrysalis Posted March 16, 2014 #2 Share Posted March 16, 2014 No, those OBCs that you gave to yourself do not show up like that.

mjrich73 Posted March 16, 2014 #4 Share Posted March 16, 2014 The OBC you buy for yourself does not show on your personalizer. You can call Princess and they will email you a confirmation. I always do this, so if an error occurred and it is not showing up, I can show them my confirmation.
coo359a2 Posted March 16, 2014 #5 Share Posted March 16, 2014 Call Princess and ask them to send you an email showing the amount of OBC you pre purchased. When I purchase Casino Credits, I always ask them to send me an email with the amount I bought just to have proof that I bought it. Don't know why they wouldn't do the same for you. Grego Posted March 16, 2014 #6 Share Posted March 16, 2014 Not to worry but it is a good idea to contact Princess to have them send a confirmation to ease your mind.
secretcastle Posted March 16, 2014 #7 Share Posted March 16, 2014 Will the OBC show up on the account when they arrive on the ship or will it be in the form of a card that is delivered to the cabin that would then be redeemed at the purser's desk ? Many thanks :)

I get cards in my cabin for the casino credit that I redeem at the casino cage.
Colo Cruiser Posted March 16, 2014 #9 Share Posted March 16, 2014 But they will be in my account when I board right? Not necessarily, sometimes it takes a couple of days even after boarding for certain ones to show. There are some OBC's that don't show on My Princess. caribill Posted March 16, 2014 #10 Share Posted March 16, 2014 (edited) Will the OBC show up on the account when they arrive on the ship or will it be in the form of a card that is delivered to the cabin that would then be redeemed at the purser's desk ?Many thanks :) It should be on your onboard account when you embark. There should also ber a card in the cabin announcing the "gift" but you do not have to show it to anyone. By the way, you have gifted yourself the amount of money required for the daily gratuity charge. This will show up as a credit on your onboard account, but it will not be applied to just the daily gratuity charge. Anything charged to your account from shore excursions to martinis to the daily gratuity charge will be subtracted until that OBC is used up and you start owing money. The effect is the same, your final bill will be reduced by the prepaid amount of the gratuities. Edited March 16, 2014 by caribill
yvr49 Posted March 16, 2014 #11 Share Posted March 16, 2014 It was explained to me that "gift" credits do not show on My Princess because sometimes the person making the gift wants it to be a surprise to the person who is cruising. In my case as the gift was from me to myself, I was able to receive an email confirming the amount of OBC. I printed it and took it along to be sure, but it was not necessary as all was in order when we cruised.

We agree....... always ask to get an email confirmation for whatever the items you have prepaid for since sometimes a gift coupon or item does not reach your cabin since turnaround day at the Port is very busy for everyone onboard the ship & could be overlooked unintentionally. 5326jan Posted March 17, 2014 #14 Share Posted March 17, 2014 I always carry a copy of any paperwork to verify OBC or gifts added to my account in case there is a mix up. Military, shareholder and gift emails are a just a few sheets of paper, but can quickly resolve questions if something isn't right on the account once we board. I learned that "back up plan" from some of the great advice accumulated on this board! :)
