We brought my 9 month on a cruise and we brought a small blow up baby pool. It kept him entertained and we were out of the way of others. We also put it on our verandah and enjoyed that also. It depends on the line. I have seen small children in the pool that had swimming pants and they put the children in to keep them cool.

Yes! She maybe....but otherwise I read on the website the they don't allow swimming diapers. Just not nice if she will be paying

That has nothing to do with anything. It's the health code that ships must comply with. No swim diapers are allowed.

;( .

Can't imagine a 17 month old is going to care that she can't use the pool...or the casino...or drink wine...or rent a car...

There's lots of things to do on a cruise, you'll have a great time even without taking a baby in the pool.

There is nothing grosser than being in a pool with a turd by your head! Been there!!!! I am swimming in a pool on one of the lines and the pool attendant says "Ca ca! Ca ca" and there I am face to face with someone's "accident". So this is why! And then the pool is out of commission for hours- sometimes it has to be drained.

If you are doing a Caribbean cruise- then you can get swimming in on the beaches. Bring a little swimvest.

What a great idea! Thanks for the suggestion!

You might also want to look at the pools, and see if they have a little space with very shallow water you can walk in. The Coral Princess had a very large shelf around its main pool, and my son and I took off our shoes and walked through it. We were both fully dressed in clothes, so I think the employees knew I wouldn't let him swim or sit in the water, since that might potentially endanger others. He liked walking in the water and it seemed fine.

The small inflatable pool (or duckie bathtub) was what we did when DS wasn't PT'd yet for the real pools. I kept it on our balcony and it also doubled as a bathtub since he wasn't used to showers. I would just put a bucket or two worth of water in the pool and pour it out into the shower drain afterward. I did let him splash around the rim of the main pool where it's only a few inches deep as long as all that was in the water were his feet and hands. We let him play in the water at the beach more than on the ship though.

At 15 months, he loved just exploring around the decks and the pool wasn't a big deal. We'd walk around the decks where he'd want to push around the giant chess pieces, or sit in one of the lounges that wasn't being used during the day or after whatever activity was over, and he was just happy to walk around going from chair to chair or sit in the spinny chairs, blow bubbles on our balcony, sit with mom or dad on a deck chair and be read to, etc.

Any accidents in a public pool would cause inconvenience for everyone. I remember when my daughter was taking swimming lessons at the local community college. Parents were told that they must make sure their kids make a bathroom stop before class.

One day we showed up for her class and were told that the rest of the classes were closed (the classes would start every half hour from mid morning to mid afternoon...and several classes would go on at the same time but in different areas of the pool) due to an "accident." The whole pool would have to be drained and cleaned and then the replacement water shocked, a procedure that would take several hours. I was directed to go to the office and get a coupon for a credit toward a future course. So this "accident" caused a lot of trouble for the employees and for the school itself (to issue these credits). And because I hadn't received the phone call in time (this was before I had a cell phone), we made a trip for nothing.

We did a transatlantic with our DD, when she wasn't potty trained. When I realized that we can't use the pool with her I was very upset.

We both a inflatable pool for the balcony. We had a perfect time, and it wasn't a problem at all that we couldn't use the pool with our DD. I think we parents are more upset that the kids can't use the pool. For the kids there are so many things to explore on the ship. So don't worry about the pool.
