That's correct, no more scheduled formal nights. Only those who wish to dine at the Grande will be required to dress formally.

Honestly, I will probably dress up a couple of nights to dine at The Grande, and will then go and change after dinner since it won't be a "formal night." That's fine with me, it'll just be a change to how I do things.

I've always stayed dressed in my dinner attire until I turned in for the night (usually 1-3am) and never felt out of place. I have a feeling I'll feel pressured to change as well.

The various dining rooms look beautiful as do the place settings. But most of the food (with the exception of most of the desserts) look far too gourmet for a basic meat and potatoes guy like me. Time will tell and perhaps I will find menu items in some or all of the five free dining venues that appeal to me, but the fancy, shmancy foods that send foodies into nirvana and which the video emphasizes aren't my style.

I feel exactly the same way - we are not fine dining people. Jamie's Italian, Chops and the Grande are the only fancy restaurants that I was able to find something that I would definitely eat. I'm trying to change my attitude and be positive about the new dining. Positives - unless we eat somewhere where we would need a reservation, we can eat whenever we want. I could eat pizza for dinner every night :D:D:D:D (I LOVE pizza). Wouldn't have to change out of shorts for most of the places we would want to eat in. Won't feel rushed to get ready for dinner on non-reservation nights. Cons - probably won't be eating with the majority of our group every night. Different wait staff every night - no more getting to know them over the course of the cruise. I am really going to miss that. I know we can do formal in the Grande but I will miss the nights when a majority of the ship would dress up. It always felt like such a special night.

You never know, we may end up liking this more.

That's is what I do on formal nites. Change to my shorts and go to the casino.

It's not very freestyle if you have to make reservations though....

What happens to all the people who are not computer users and don't book ahead?

Call RCL and I'm sure they will reserve a time, restaurant and day.

After looking at the no-fee menus, it looks like the only one that serves lobster is American Icon...is that correct??? Also, it looks like some of the no-fee dining has "special" items if you want to pay extra.....thought that was why they have those fee restaurants..... Am I correct in both of these???

We are going to have the same problem with my father in law. Mike & I love to try new things but FIL is a meat and potato kind of guy so he'll probably be in the Windjammer most nights.

I tend to agree with you. With regards to your second point, they basically have a fee choice in the present MDR menu for select items.

I've just scrolled through the menus for the 5 complimentary restaurants and think that you would have to be a very finicky eater if you can't find something you would like to eat every night on a cruise.

I'm very excited by the available options. Now I just have to figure out when my wife and I will be able to set sail on either Q or A.

While I like traditional dining and would have preferred Royal Caribbean do a rotation through the 4 restaurants where you keep your same tablemates and servers (like Disney does), the menus look very good to me.

Another thing I'm excited about is the 24-hour "The Grill" in the Windjammer. It will be great to have another late night option available.

Very excited by all of this

After viewing that food link I'm booking this weekend. Awesome!

After looking at these menus I too am excited. They sound like wonderful dishes, that make my mouth water. It doesn't help that I had my wisdom teeth removed on Wednesday and only had fluids since then.

Honestly this has been the first thing that really has excited me about Quantum. I have liked items and aspects of the ship but have yet to be wowed, until today.

Could very well be. I'd kill for even a hot dog... something with flavour other than Gatorade, Ensure, Popsicles or noodle soup.

Could also be the Tylenol 3 wearing off.
