What's the longest Cruise you've been on?

Hey, many of ya'll know that I am booked on the 15 Day Infinity Cruise to Hawaii in November. It will be the longest cruise I have ever been on, and the most Days at Sea with 10 (well really more like 8 1/2 - 9 1/2 depending on which days you count). Just curious about how you like the longer cruises, how you paced your self. Did you bring kids or grandkids, and how did they fare on the longer cruise?

I think the many days at sea will be quite relaxing, getting to take naps, read, participate in on board activities. What's been your experience, good or bad with these longer cruises?

I look forward to when we can take longer cruises. So far, the longest was our 9-night cruise on the Century last Christmas. With the night before and a night after the cruise in Fort Lauderdale, we were gone 11 nights--our longest vacation ever.

Our work schedules usually preclude our taking off more time than that. Unfortunately, the only exception is usually around Christmas--but that's when cruises cost more than we usually want to spend.

Not long enough....

13 night Mediterranean. It was great. We had our son with us as usual. He was 13 at the time. Unfortunately we only had 3 sea days. We are booked for 14 night next July on Constellation and only have 3 sea days on that too.

We look forward to the day when we can cruise and get more sea days in. There's never enough time to just enjoy the ship when you have such port intensive itineraries as we have had. There's so many things we don't get to see or do on the ship. You can use the spa, go to the gym, sit and relax in the Cova Cafe. Join in on activities, go to lectures, take a computer class.

There should be a law no cruises shorter than 10 days. :D I'm always just getting "warmed up" around day 4 and 7 days is never enough.

Have a great time on your trip.

11-day Western Caribbean & Canal... took the first couple of days just to get relaxed, and then we had a lot of ports, so the later sea days were much appreciated. Usually aren't as many kids on the longer cruises, but this one was over xmas/new year's, and a few got too rambunctious (broken/stolen art, kids running around the adult pool, etc).

Our longest was 27 nights, San Francisco to Sydney, on Sky Princess' last voyage as a Princess ship. WW2 Battlegrounds was the theme - and it was great.

Would love to go on one of P&O's 90+ night World Cruises, but wife think a month is maximum.

Like to keep them 2 weeks or above, when we can find the right itineraries.

Our longest was an Infinity 11 night Ensenada-Honolulu and 10 night Honolulu-Ensenada back to back, 21 nights of continuous cruising! It was heavenly, and it was the first time I got off the ship at the end of the cruise not feeling like I was going to cry.

Longest trip so far was 21 days , from Karachi. Have 14 day San Diego to Hawaii back to San Diego in November (Infinity )

In Jan 2066, booked on Hal for a 30 day South Pacific R/T San Diego. then back to Celebrity for November 2006 Transatlantic 16 days (Barcelona to Ft Lauderdale)

Wish Celebrity would do a South Pacific R/T out of either LA,SF or San Diego , I have done the Carribbean , Alaska, Panama Canel too many times. Like Med cruises but dislike the long flight to and from ship.

The longest scheduled cruise I have taken was 7 days, but a cruise on Century last year turned into a 9 night thanks to hurricane Jeanne. I have a 14 night transatlantic cruise booked for October, I'm really looking forward to that one! Most of what I'm now booking are at least 10 day cruises.

I like longer cruises because I feel like I am "amortizing" my airfare. Living in Oklahoma, I have to make a long flight to get anywhere near the ocean!

I did a 23=day cruise with QE2 from Sydney to Hong Kong by way of Japan and then added on another week in Beijing (via overnight train(. It was really a great trip.

In the spring I spent 16 nights aboard HAL Amsterdam, with time before and after in Rio and in Santiago. Highly recommended.

I have made a couple more 14-16 day cruises, and have another booked in the fall with Galaxy from Rome to Galveston.

It helps being retired to have enough time -- but it also means a little less income too which is limiting. Take your choice, or rather, take advantage of whatever your situation. Too little time or too little money!!!

love

joan

53 days on the old Prudential/Delta Lines Santa Maria in 1979. Round trip Los Angeles, through the canal and around South America. It had several overnights: 3 nights in Rio and 3 ights in Buenas Aires. At one stretch I think there were 12 straight sea days; another there were 9 straight.

The extended stays in some of the ports allowed for sightseeing at a relaxed pace. Celebrity could take a lesson there for Maui. We even left the ship in Valpariso and went to Cuzco/Machu Pichu and rejoined the ship in Lima. The long sea stretches were totally relaxing.

We didn't have any kids then, so it was just the two of us. Those "Santa" class ships maxed out at 100 passengers and were somewhat spartan, so you had to generate many of your own diversions...no casino, lounges (just a two bartender bar), minimal entertainment, etc. but food was first rate. We would do it again in a heartbeat.

Regards

17 nights on the Westerdam November 2005 Transatlantic Barcelona to FLL. We have also done two 15 nights, and one 13 nights. We would not consider a 7 night now unless we could drive to the port and back. Next cruises are 14 night, 11 night, 14 night and 12 nights. All in the next 15 months !

Our longest cruise is the same as Usha "Our longest was on Infinity 11 night Ensenada-Honolulu and 10 night Honolulu-Ensenada back to back, 21 nights of continuous cruising! " the beautiful Infinity which must be the reason it is our favorite ship and favorite cruise of all.

We have Sapphire Princess booked for April of 2007 for 29 days and while we love the iteniery, Sydney to San Fran, my head spins at the thought of flying to Sydney.

Our longest is 14 nts trans-Canal. Really enjoyed the balance of at-sea and shore days. Was just the two of us.

Pace myself? OK -- I'm ready for the flames. I've never had to do this on a cruise. There's always been enough energy on longer cruises for serious shore excursions due to the at-sea days, and I never gain weight, even though I eat an additional meal every day more than I would at home. Some sort of self-regulating metabolism. Break-even is the norm.
