Can anyone tell me how far from Berth 4 to Creek St? Is it a walkable distance?

Thank you..

I believe I read that there is a free shuttle. It is walkable if you like to walk. There are two walking tours of Ketchikan one of those is the Creek st area. The other is on the far side of berth 4. We did both on one of our visits.

It's probably easiest to ride the free shuttle bus that goes around the town. Ask where to catch it when you get off the ship in Ketchikan.

The complimentary downtown Shuttle Bus runs May through September, making a 20 minute circuit beginning at Berth 4.

We are back from our cruise so here is some of the things I noticed. In Skagway we were at RRF which was closer to town than RRA. The Solstice was behind us and had a longer walk. The walk into town only took about 10 minutes and was a nice walk,

In Juneau we were at B and it took 15-20 to walk to the Goldbelt Hotel where we rented a car. It was also a very nice walk all along the water. The tram was no more than a 5 minute walk. There were 4 ships in port but the Star still tendered. The tender dropped them off at the little dock that is not named between E and F by number 15. It was low tide and the passengers had a long walk up the gang plank.

in Ketchikan we were at berth 4 and it was also a nice walk along the water to town no more than 10 minutes to the Ketchikan sign and then about another 10 minutes to Creek St. There were venders at berth 4 selling tours and there is also a nice gift store. Make sure to pick up a Tongass Trading Co. coupon book at the visitors center for your Alaska calendar for .15 cents at store #2. Some nice buys there but most things are made in China.

Do the ships always dock in those locations facing port or starboard the way they are shown on the maps?
Not always. They may dock facing either way, depending on a number of factors.

We have even done back-to-back on the same ship when it docked at the same berth on the port side one time and on the starboard side the next time.

True, but just to clarify for someone who has never been there before and may get a misleading impression, RRA is right behind RRF on the same pier, so the two ships dock one directly behind the other.

The "longer" walk is only about two minutes longer, an insignificant difference if walking into town.

Additionally, there is an open shuttle that continuously runs back and forth from one end of the pier to the other for passengers from either ship with mobility problems, as well as for any able bodied passengers who would rather ride to the end of the pier than walk.

The forward ship has the advantage of being slightly closer to town, while the aft ship has the advantage of the beautiful unobstructed scenic views behind the ship, with good possibility of seeing wildlife in the water there.
