Harooni Posted May 4, 2014 Author #26 Share Posted May 4, 2014 I usually have around a $500-$600 balance for a 7 night cruise...I've never pre-paid gratuities, or had more than $25 in OBC, so I'm pretty happy with $600 for 2 people for 7 nights. 600???
Harooni Posted May 4, 2014 Author #27 Share Posted May 4, 2014 Outside of tips, our onboard acct balance is usually less than $50 for a family of 4 on a weeklong cruise. now there is a wife that can do the hubby proud. lol budget and you get to go more often is how i look at it. JMG Posted May 4, 2014 #28 Share Posted May 4, 2014 On a 7 day Celebrity cruise using the 123 Go Promotion....we had an OBC balance of +$129. We KNOW that will never happen again!!!

Stateroom_Sailor Posted May 5, 2014 #30 Share Posted May 5, 2014 We're coming in around $200 each for our first two cruises. Wouldn't mind cutting that down a bit, but the wife likes getting a couple drinks, and I'm addicted to the rum balls and other liquor chocolates. I also don't mind buying clothing that aren't overpriced, things we would buy on land anyways. We've got $100 obc with our next RCL cruise, which should leave a balance of $100 if we don't cut back a bit (likely). :)

Mommy oooo Posted May 6, 2014 #33 Share Posted May 6, 2014 Well, I will never see that day of a low bill. On our last cruise in February, it was an 11 night and with some OBC (can't remember how much) and having our tips prepaid, I think our bill as about 1200. Needless to say DH and I like to drink on vacation, the kids like there $5 a pop video arcade ride in the evening, a picture perhaps and a few speciality restaurants. We don't go to the spa. So yeah, i think our bar bill is a main contributor to our large bill. May be time to consider drink packages for DH and I.
chadbeck Posted May 6, 2014 #34 Share Posted May 6, 2014 $300. That was after we had used the $200 OBC we had to pay our $336 in gratuities. This was mostly spent on Patron which was $35 per bottle on the ship rather than the $50 it is in here in town, :D a mug my kids bought me with my money to thank me for taking them on the trip :), and just a couple of drinks we ordered. Debbie Hahaha!!
PuterMonkey Posted May 6, 2014 #35 Share Posted May 6, 2014 Since the OP didn't specify OBC or no OBC, our lowest balance was $.47. We paid cash. :) In pennies I hope.
PuterMonkey Posted May 6, 2014 #36 Share Posted May 6, 2014 Okay I have to ask. Do you all manage these balance because you pay for most things beforehand? (Like tips, drink packages, restaurants, excursions, etc, if you plan to get them)

Mitchie Poo Posted May 6, 2014 #38 Share Posted May 6, 2014 Took wife and (4) Grand-Children on a 4 day cruise last Oct. Told them to have fun and bring me the receipts. including gratuities for (3) rooms, drinks, wine and (2) beverage cards, total bill was $1200.00. It was the best $1200.00 I have ever spent, everyone had a wonderful time.:)
bouhunter Posted May 6, 2014 #39 Share Posted May 6, 2014 (edited) 0-1,000 or whatever, Who cares????? Some people spend hundreds on drinks, some thousands on jewelry, some lot's on gambling, etc etc., some nothing on anything. Whatever. I guess I don't see the point of this question. Considering the many variable's why wonder what anyone else charges? Edited May 6, 2014 by bouhunter

(Like tips, drink packages, restaurants, excursions, etc, if you plan to get them) Prepaid gratuities can into play here and likely for others with a small or no balance. Also, prepaid excursions or speciality restaurants.

Nebr.cruiser Posted May 6, 2014 #43 Share Posted May 6, 2014 Okay I have to ask. Do you all manage these balance because you pay for most things beforehand? (Like tips, drink packages, restaurants, excursions, etc, if you plan to get them) Sometimes we pay tips beforehand (often required to with Anytime dining), or use OBC to pay them. We don't drink or even like pop, don't gamble or go to the spa or specialty restaurants. Most excursions we do are private, so usually paid after the excursion. We may buy a picture or two, some small souvenirs in ports, that's about it. We've cruised quite a bit and just don't want or need a lot of the other stuff. We go to relax on the ship, enjoy the entertainment and see some great ports. And for nice warm weather in winter.

Are there some sort of bragging rights to be won here? What's the prize for it being so low? Is there some shame in having a large Seapass balance? Because at the moment, it sure seems like it from the comments on here. Edited May 6, 2014 by peteukmcr

slyther Posted May 6, 2014 #49 Share Posted May 6, 2014 On my recent FoS cruise the casino had a promotion where you get your room bill wiped out if they pick your name. The lady that won only had about a $130 bill and I shed a tear as I looked at my $900 bill. (Darn dolphin excursion!)
