SissasMomE Posted May 7, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 7, 2014 Would you upgrade to a Grand Suite from a D1 for $1,000? I have not sailed in a full suite on Royal, just a Junior. Is it worth it? There are 3 of us, if that matters. Thanks

Sabnitron Posted May 7, 2014 #3 Share Posted May 7, 2014 I'm assuming that's a 7 nighter? If so, then a grand for three pople is pretty good. I'd take it.

Clarea Posted May 7, 2014 #5 Share Posted May 7, 2014 Yes, it's 7 nights. That's a pretty good price for 3 people to go from a D1 to a GS on a 7 day cruise. I'd jump on it.
leaveitallbehind Posted May 7, 2014 #6 Share Posted May 7, 2014 (edited) Factoring in the significant extra space, storage, tub and much larger full bathroom, balcony, furniture, etc., for three people v. the D1 would certainly play a part in my decision. Add the benefits associated with the suite to include the Concierge Lounge with free cocktails from 5:00 - 8:30 PM nightly and Concierge services along with the double C & A points would possibly justify the $47.61 pp / day premium. Keep in mind the gratuities also increase by $2.25 pp/day for the suite attendant. Edited May 7, 2014 by leaveitallbehind
scooter90 Posted May 7, 2014 #7 Share Posted May 7, 2014 Do it! Also on embarking day some of the ships allow suite and diamond passengers to eat their lunch in a speciality restaurant (you take your food from the Windjammer there). It makes it less hectic while waiting for your cabin...or just less hectic than the WJ in general. Also you can have bfast in the speciality restaurant in the morning (menu to order)...GS also will allow you to order off the MDR menu during the hours the MDR is open. We orderd full bfast a couple times and it was wonderful out on the balcony. The Balcony will also be larger than the JS too.... Just do it and enjoy!!! Bobby Dee Posted May 7, 2014 #8 Share Posted May 7, 2014 Don't do it. You'll never be satisfied with a plain balcony cabin again...

Cindy Posted May 7, 2014 #11 Share Posted May 7, 2014 Yes!!! :D You will love it, and I think $1,000 for three of you is a very reasonable price.
cb at sea Posted May 7, 2014 #12 Share Posted May 7, 2014 3 in a D vs. 3 in a GS...no brainer! Take it! I think a JS is too tight for 3!
DonnaK Posted May 7, 2014 #13 Share Posted May 7, 2014 I guess I'm the only frugal cruiser who wouldn't do it. I'd be happy with the D balcony, and would put the additional $1000 towards other expenses or a future cruise.
gerif Posted May 7, 2014 #14 Share Posted May 7, 2014 I'd do it in a heartbeat. No question.
