LilMsFoodie Posted May 17, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 17, 2014 We are on Solstice soon. DH is getting worked up for black jack and asked me to find the rules for the cruise line. finding a little here but from 2009. He is curious how many decks? minimums? maximums? I know there has to be some sort of written content out there but google is not helping much. Wj420 Posted May 17, 2014 #2 Share Posted May 17, 2014 I believe they use eight deckers. The minimums may vary however usually there are $6, $10, $25 and $50 tables. I only know the max on a $10 table is $300. Dealers hit soft seventeen. Pretty normal rules. Usually the casino is a great place if you enjoy cards. We find the staff and the dealers to be friendly and fun to play cards with. Have fun!! Good luck!
Christine Frances Posted May 17, 2014 #3 Share Posted May 17, 2014 A little OT but have you seen the new "Celebrity Fortunes" App? As is can only be used on the ship it would be great to get some feedback. http://www.celebritycruises.com/genericHtmlTemplate.do?pagename=mobile_gateway&cS=Footer#&panel1-

They often have an open card blackjack game as well...I think blackjack pays even money and a couple of other differences. You may find that all tables the first night are $25 and if no one plays, the minimum bets will go down the next night....after all, the casino doesn't make any money unless there are players. $10 is very common with some cruises offering $6 minimum bets. Christine Frances Posted May 18, 2014 #6 Share Posted May 18, 2014 Ok don't mean to sound dumb but can you play without internet connection? I think once you sign up at the ship's casino desk you will probably be using Celebrity's own internal wifi. Not sure tho but can't see using paid wifi minutes. I would really be interested to see how this works and hope someone tries it:)
sn2792 Posted May 18, 2014 #7 Share Posted May 18, 2014 On our Eclipse cruise in March, they had 4 blackjack tables with $6.00 min and I think 250 max. I think they used 8 decks but I'm not sure. They also had a couple of single deck blackjack tables that were $10.00 min. There was at least one or two $25.00 min tables. I don't know the max. The dealer does have to hit on soft 17. The tables were never very crowded in the casino.
curtdesilets Posted May 18, 2014 #8 Share Posted May 18, 2014 (edited) Blackjack is always a better bet than the "one armed bandits" on cruise ship casinos. The slots are not very loose. Additionally, you often get a number of $5 match play coupons, depending on your cruise history. Pilot70D Posted May 18, 2014 #10 Share Posted May 18, 2014 (edited) Do you recall if the single deck games paid 3 to 2 or 6 to 5 on blackjack? Single deck pays 6 to 5 on a natural and restricts doubling after splitting pairs. They did have the table rules clearly displayed when I played the single deck table. Don't know:( I downloaded the App and it states "game play restricted until on board". As I don't sail until Oct I am hoping someone will post their experience Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app
rcoaster809 Posted May 18, 2014 #12 Share Posted May 18, 2014 Thanks for the info. I like playing single deck, but I avoid the 6 to 5 tables.
JAB8408 Posted August 7, 2014 #13 Share Posted August 7, 2014 Can we write a personal check to buy Celebrity casino chips? Can we hand cash to the blackjack dealer? Is there a fee at the onboard ATM machines? I don't like to take a lot of cash on vacations. Thank you for any replies.
Queen of Oakville Posted August 7, 2014 #14 Share Posted August 7, 2014 I highly doubt a personal check would work  I'm sure you could use traveller's cheques with the cashier or guest services, or better yet, charge it to your sea pass. You cannot "hand" cash to the dealer. You have to put it down on the table, and then he/she picks it up :D

If you don't want to carry cash, you could pay whatever the fee is and use the ATM machine. And I also agree about not handing cash to the dealer.....I would put the bills down on the table and they will pick them up off the table;) Oh, you could use your seapass card and pay whatever that fee is as well. The ATM has a standard, can't remember what it was, maybe $2 to $4 per transaction, fee. You can also take money off your sea pass card. You can pay your sea pass card via credit card or cash, but I am not sure about check. Happy sailing, Jenna
bighairtexan Posted August 8, 2014 #17 Share Posted August 8, 2014 You can also take an advance at the casino cashier (or at the tables w/ the OK of the casino manager on duty). There is a 5% (used to be 3) fee to do this. If you're a Blue Chip Club member they waive the fee.
SWORRUB1 Posted August 8, 2014 #18 Share Posted August 8, 2014 (edited) Tables with $5/10/15 minimums, not $6 as has been widely reported on here. Not much trade during day, $5 table very busy by cruise end in the evenings. Players were handing over dollars for chips to the dealers Edited August 8, 2014 by SWORRUB1
need2bespoiled Posted August 8, 2014 #19 Share Posted August 8, 2014 I've seen both $5 and $6 tables. Sometimes both on the same cruise, where the $6 could be achieved with a side bet such as betting on queens or spinning a wheel if you got a BJ, wheel spin would give you a multiplier of the side bet from 5x to 100x.
