jaguarstyper Posted June 26, 2014 #9 Share Posted June 26, 2014 I'm not sure if it interests you or not, but HAL does offer the 7 Day Signature Beverage Package for $362 per person. On the surface, that sounds pricey, but when I really thought about it, it seems like an OK deal if you do like to have several drinks throughout the entire day. I generally enjoy a Bloody Mary or two with Breakfast in the morning. A bucket of beer in the afternoon, a couple drinks before dinner, a glass of wine with dinner and I usually have a few drinks in the casino throughout the night after dinner. I dont think I could ever reach the 15 drink per day limit, but I can certainly have enough throughout the day to make the purchase well worth it. And I didn't even include a few specialty coffees or other soft drinks. 2 Bloody Marys $15 Bucket of beer $25 2 Pre Dinner Drinks $15 Glass of wine with dinner $10 2 drinks in the casino $15 The card allows $7 per drink, so there may be a few bucks a day that isnt covered by the package, but its still a better deal if you enjoy drinks throughout the day. I know some would say this is crazy excessive drinking, but I am on vacation. The rules are different on vacation. :D I don't ever remember being "drunk" on a HAL cruise. Rare POA1 Posted June 29, 2014 #13 Share Posted June 29, 2014 (edited) Does anyone know what is the measurement of a shot of spirits? Thanks in advance. It's a jigger - 1.5 fl oz or 44 ml. Not that you asked, but at happy hour you can get double liquor for a extra $1 instead of getting 2 whole drinks. This assumes that your choice of alcohol qualifies for happy hour pricing. It's generally anything with a menu price of $6.95 or less. Edited June 29, 2014 by POA1
eandj Posted July 6, 2014 #14 Share Posted July 6, 2014 (edited) Are wines available by the glass during happy hours? Where and what time are the happy hrs held? Edited July 6, 2014 by eandj

Rare LHT28 Posted July 7, 2014 #17 Share Posted July 7, 2014 Do they have coffee cards or just pay as you go for specialty coffees?? Thanks
RuthC Posted July 7, 2014 #18 Share Posted July 7, 2014 Do they have coffee cards or just pay as you go for specialty coffees?? There are "Beverage Cards" that can be used to purchase specialty coffee, however there is no discount on the purchase. The advantage of the beverage card is that you don't have to keep track of all the receipts in order to reconcile your account balance. If you are entitled to a Mariner discount on the coffee purchases you have to use your cabin card in order to receive it. The beverage card won't work with the discount. Do they keep choices to house wines and the least expensive beers? For the last couple of years, all the ships that we have been on, Happy Hour was from 4 - 5 PM in the Ocean Bar and Crow's Nest. Later in the evening around 11 PM there will be a Happy Hour either in the Casino or the Northern Lights -- depends on ship. House wines and cheaper beers, usually the drink of the day. Alcoholic drinks that are under $7 -- but no premium alcohols.

Withdrawal?? I remember drinking a lot more 20 years ago, especially on hot weather resort vacations and cruises. But this dude...wow! Be careful on those outside decks, jaguarstyper! RuthC Posted July 13, 2014 #24 Share Posted July 13, 2014 Do the have soda cards that you can purchase for unlimited soda during the cruise?? I had heard about these but couldn't see if HA offers them :) No HAL doesn't have an unlimited soda card. They did, several cards ago, but people were using their card to purchase soda for others, so that card was changed to a limited one. Since then it's been changed again to a beverage card, in either non-alcoholic or alcoholic varieties, as well as a soda-only card. The beverage card has no discounting on it, and can be used for any non-alcoholic beverages (or any beverages with the full card), such as specialty coffee, as well as cans of soda. The soda card is $25 for $50 worth of soda. You get fountain soda on that card.
