Enchantment of the Seas ~ June 13th Weekend Bahamas Getaway

Recommended Posts

Thank you for posting your review! I'm trying to convince the hubby to do this sailing for my birthday. We live in Orlando so being able to take the half day is definitely something I'm trying to use in my favor! Lol! I'm watching the price and hoping for a last minute drop!

Here you go! My wife and I are scrapbookers (no comments) and so I have saved all of these from every cruise we have been on. Sorry about the low resolution, but CC has pretty tight standards on file size. Hope you can read and they help!

Thank you so much for posting the compass!! Looking forward to our cruise!

I'm sorry I don't have the compass. To be honest I never once looked at it! I just kinda went with the flow of things, I know it's crazy right?

I'm glad you enjoyed the review! Have a great cruise. She is a lot of fun.

Thank you! We are looking forward to it!

Great review! We were on this sailing as well, one of those crazy Florida folk who worked half day and then drove to the port. I was thinking ParknCruise but because I was going to work Monday morning, I decided to park at the terminal. Of course, they raised the price to $20 per day - reep off. We did Chops the first night, taking advantage of the Buy One, get one free offer. To me the biggest surprise was the weather - it has been nasty in Orlando all week, but the weather was gorgeous from the time we got on the ship until get got off.

I am sure we will be on her again before our December Allure cruise. I am hoping to do Super Bowl weekend again - that was a blast!

Chops buy one, get one free offer? Do you know which C & A tier is eligible for that? Would love to try it!

You're welcome! I'm super jealous of you living in Orlando, I've actually thought about moving to Florida just so I can cruise more! (I know I have a problem but at least I can admit it. That's the first step right?)

I also booked under a price drop at $169pp + $50 OBC from WOW. But then a few days later it dropped to $139pp, but I was still happy with my price. Plus I was able to switch to an Ocean View for no extra cost.

Depending on when you are trying to go, I'd recommend September/October as these price drops are pretty aggressive. In fact, I've even seen $89pp before but those days might be behind us now that the economy is much stronger.

Thanks again!

Closer to sail date we find that RCCL has weekend sales and the prices often drop on the weekend days. Keep checking and enjoy

Are you sure they really raised the rate? Two weeks ago we paid $15/day. But, as is the case for port and off site parking, for the three day you have to pay for FOUR days of parking making it $60. If they raised it to $20 and we have to pay for 4 days ( for the 3 day cruise) that will make the parking $80.

We stayed at a local hotel that gave us a 40% off port parking coupon making the port parking $9/day ($36 for 4 days - even thought we had a 3 night cruise) .

Heading back in late July and will certainly look at the rates. We are regular customers of Park N Cruise but since the port parking is just a dollar more with the coupon - we'll park at the port. That is, unless they raised the rate from $15/day to $20.

Thanks for the heads up

You are correct they drop on Saturday morning. My royal booking agent called me on Friday morning and said, "Big Price drop happening tomorrow, would you like me to book it for you?" I said, "YES SIR!" :D:D

In my mind from noon Friday until 7 Monday is less than 72 hours so I view that as 3 days.

Seems ridiculous to me but all the parking lots - port and off site - view it is 4 days. (Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday ). The 7 night cruises becomes 8 days for parking rates.

Have been enjoying your review all along.

Question? How did you like Junkanoo Beach?

I LOVE Junkanoo Beach! I've actually been there seven times now. It only takes 10 minuets to get to and there are signs that guide you along the way. These are pictures I took from January while I was there. They also have a special where you get 3 beers + 4 shots + wifi = $10.00 STEAL!

I've actually never seen it this crowed before and when I was there last week it was no where near this busy, but I didn't arrive until 1pm since we docked at noon.

The Beach - They have four sections like this, but this is the main one.

Wow, when I first started traveling to Nassau, Junkanoo Beach was for the locals, no services at all except for food prepared for local tastes... only a few hardy cruisers would enjoy this strip of beach with no services, loungers, vendors, etc. Most tourists would head for developed areas like Cable Beach or Atlantis. We'd put down a towel, take a dip in the water and enjoy the view of the ships in the harbor.

Little by little more tourist-oriented vendors arrived, first with some broken-down chairs, then more familiar foods and drinks, then hair braiders and trinket sellers, then beach massage tables and tents... and from what I see of your photo, it is now a fully-developed tourist service area with cushioned chairs, full-service bars, even wifi!?!? Sigh. I guess we'll have to go a bit farther afield to see how the folks live in Nassau.

Have you walked (or taken the bus) farther down the beach to the fish fry? It's more fun if you're on a late night stop (or land trip) when they also have live music and dancing, but they have great food and drinks, served out of individual brightly colored huts... best conch salad I've had, prepared fresh in front of me from live conch gathered from the water, seasoned with sour orange juice, onions, hot peppers to taste... yum... I'm not a drinker but I hear great things about the drinks prepared at these locations too...

I love Nassau, too, just a great port stop with so much for everyone! My latest find: the (new) chocolate factory tour at the Greycliff Hotel. (There's also a cigar factory there, and a rum distillery tour a few blocks away.) I'd already done about everything else at Nassau: the pirate museum, slave museum, straw market, Atlantis casino and waterpark, Blue Lagoon Island dolphin and stingray swims, cable beach hotels, snorkel trips, Ardastra Gardens and Zoo... you can tell I've been there a few times, right?

I LOVED LOVED LOVED your review. How nice to see all the friendly folks, and that you make friendships that continue on land. One of the great benefits of cruising IMO!!

Great review and pictures. Enjoyed it very much. Sailed on the Enchantment many times when she was ported in Baltimore. Really miss her, but the Grandeur is just like it, only a little smaller. Love that ship too.

Thanks for taking the time to do this review. All the reviews keep me occupied until my upcoming cruises. :p;)

Hi Micheal,

I sailed with you on the Brilliance deal back in Feb and was on your Quest team with Chloe and her friends. I went on the Enchantment with a friend and we walked down to what I thought was Junkanoo Beach. I am somewhat directionally challenged. Last time we went and there was a beach with some trees and such just past the parking lot. So if I continue walking down further I will come across this or do I need to take a bus? Do you know what those yellowish buildings are for reference.

I am sailing again on a last minute cruise at a great price on Friday and may try to go there again with my husband and son.

I was looking for a simple beach day and decided to walk to Junkanoo public beach.

The walk was 15 mins and they have posted signs along the sidewalk with yards remaining.

Hi!!! So good to hear from you! Oh how I miss the Brilliance cruise. Chloe and all her friends were dying on FB when they saw I was on a cruise again without them.

So anyways back to Junkanoo beach. You will first walk to Senor Frogs at the end of the sidewalk. Then follow the sidewalk left, (passing a jewelry store) Then you will see the first street sign showing junkanoo beach to right, all you are doing at this point is just following the sidewalk until you get there. But to help guide you along after you pass that sign you will walk straight for about 3-4mins passing a parking lot on the right, which here it curves right, then again to the left, but don't worry about all the lefts and right just follow the sidewalk. You will see that beach hut in about 12-15 mins from leaving ship!

Thanks! I think we just didn't go down far enough. I think we cut through the parking lot and ran into that beach and thought that it was the beach I will try again.

You were ALMOST there! Just maybe 30 more seconds of walking and you would have made it. I know where you stopped, they almost need one more sign there saying "straight ahead"
