Ft. Lauderdale Hotel

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I'll be cruising on the Allure in November. We are flying in the day before and I'm looking for a hotel not only close to the port, but close to an area with restaurants and possibly shopping? Our flight lands around 4 pm and we won't be renting a car.

I'm not worried about a shuttle from the airport or to the port, if the hotel has that it's just a bonus. We can cab it and from what I can tell the port isn't too far from the airport. But I would just prefer to be in walking distance to a restaurant or two.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance. I've done several searches already but am coming up short. Sadly, my #1 choice is sold out that night. (Hard Rock Hotel and Casino)

We stayed at the B Ocean now called the Sonesta across from the ocean at East Sunrise. Only 2 blocks away from the Galleria mall that has lots of shopping and restaurants. A few other hotels in that area as well but are on the intercostal waterway and not the ocean.

We are staying at the Embassy Suites on 17th St. Has free breakfast and an evening cocktail hour on the house. Close to port as people are saying only a $15 cab ride and close to Harbor Shops and close to restaurants. Lots of info on the florida departures board about this hotel and others.

We are staying at the Embassy Suites in August, mainly because of the room size with 3 adults in one room (I get the sofa yay!). My parents have stayed at the Embassy Suites on 17th St a bunch of time and really enjoy that as well.

At the Pier 66 as I type. With AAA discount it was the best deal of all the 17th street hotels. Very close to port and airport and great service.

We also enjoyed our stay at Hyatt Pier 66

We are at the Hyatt Pier 66 right now and love it! We are on the 14th level and had a nice view of the 3 ships in port yesterday. Our room is nice and the staff we encountered were wonderful. We got there late morning and our room was ready. Last night we took a cab to the Oasis Cafe for dinner. It was about $7 plus tip. There was a Bubba Gump and other restaurants near there. We are about to go down to breakfast so I can't tell you about the food just that they have a buffet and regular menu.

We like the Marriott Courtyard. It's right across from the beach and there is a Bubba Gumps Shrimp Co. restaurant downstairs.

We don't rent a car either and always ask the taxi driver to stop at the liquor store on the way to the hotel so we can grab our two bottles of wine:D

Embassy, Hyatt (behind Embassy - there are three in town), Hilton Marina are all great and close to the Harbor Shops off of 17th. Lots of restaurants, a Publix grocery and a large liquor store. Publix has an extensive wine isle and good bakery. The Sun Trolley to the beach runs from the Publix front door.

Note that 17th is on the north end of the port. Allure sails from the south end, so if you want to be in that area look at the Dania Beach hotels. There is also a Jai Alai fronton/casino down there. Nice park just north of there that is across the waterway from where Allure docks.

We are staying at the Embassy Suites in October. I have not sailed from Ft. Lauderdale before, but several people recommended the hotel. The price seems very reasonable for what you get; 2 rooms, hot breakfast, and evening snacks.

Comfort Suites Airport and Cruiseport is our go-to choice ALWAYS! It's close to our favorite restaurant; Southport Raw Bar, offers free pick-up at the airport, $6 shuttle to the port, free breakfast, free parking, and very good rates. There is a Publix and Total Wine in easy walking distance. Book at http://www.choicehotels.com . Ask for AAA rates or senior rates (if you qualify). Also, keep an eye on rates as they change closer to sail date. Check out our favorite restaurant with canal-side dining at http://www.southportrawbar.com . Enjoy and Bon Voyage!

Springhill Suites, Dania Beach. Walking distance to shopping and restaurants.

We've stayed at Springhill Suites and walked across the road to a shopping plaza with a couple of restaurants. They also offer a shuttle to the cruise terminal. I think the shuttle was about $10/pp
