Dessert Extravaganza on Maasdam Canada/N.E. ?

Good evening all,

 

My mother, mother-in-law and myself are sailing on the Maasdam from Montréal to Boston on August 23rd. M.I.L.'s first cruise so I want to show her everything HAL has to offer, including the Dessert Extravaganza.

 

Does anyone know what night it is held? Is there still such an event?

 

Any info would be greatly appreciated..

It seems like it has been done away with. I've taken 3 cruises with Hal in the last 10 months and it wasn't on any of them. Folks have reported that it hasn't been on theirs either.

Don't recall seeing that in a while...and we do two or more cruises a year on HAL. We were on the Maasdam in February and didn't have it. Nor, on the Noordam cruise that followed....

Had one on Volendam LA to Sydney in October 2013. It was done in the atrium on all three levels, different but nice. Haven't been on HAL since. m--

None on the Noordam in March. I'm afraid that the dessert extravaganza may have gone the way of the little Dutch hats, dinosaurs, and the little round chocolates with the ship imprint. :(

We did have it on the Rijndam last September in the Med.

On the Westerdam repositioning spring 2013 we had one in the afternoon in the Atrium.

But fall 2013 on the Nieuw Amsterdam -- nothing. And we were on the same ship in 2014 spring -- nothing.

Most of the ships have done away with it as there is just too much waste.

Just got off the Maasdam last Saturday and there was no Dessert Extravaganza and if there was one I would have known about it as my cruising partner was my 17 year old grandson!

We asked about it on our May cruise on the Amsterdam. The dessert extravaganza has been done away with as there was too much work involved and too much waste.

Was on the Maasdam 14 June sailing and there was a dessert extravaganza. It was at held 10 or 10:30 pm at the pool. It was during the latter half of the cruise... perhaps day 5?

We didn't have it on my last three cruises since January on Zuiderdam, Zaandam and Veendam.

 

A few weeks ago on Veendam there were no H'ordeurves in the Crow's Nest or Ocean Bar (just the Peanuts). Have they done away with them, too?

Awww. This is very disappointing. They were beautiful. If waste is the issue, will they do away with the buffet next? Or nor more asking for seconds in the MDR? Better clean your plate so there's no waste incentive for them to curtail more of our favorites :)

Just off the Maasdam this past Saturday and there was no dessert extravaganza. The only time you are likely to go hungry is from 5- 5:30 and 9-11:30 p.m. the only option in this time frame is room service
