The Dawn arrived back to the Port of Boston this morning, right on time.

negc...you've experienced it all... and there is a real good chance that she may be docked in Boston if our friend ARTHUR is here! How wonderful to be in Boston on the 4th of July! If the Master of the Ship says you're staying until the morning.... you can probably still leave the ship? negc? Your thoughts?

So for those of you lucky enough to be headed to Bermuda, just be prepared. If she DOES depart Port of Boston....it will probably be bumpy. Bring what you need to ride it out, SEA BANDS. What's the worst that can happen... close the dining-room for dinner? Pick up some things from the buffet to have in your stateroom JUST IN CASE.

It will be a great and memorable cruise! Bon Voyage!

Hi Renie. Timing is everything so much will depend on prevailing conditions several hours from now. If they are forced to remain in port until the storm has passed it wouldn't be the first time a ship has been held in Boston overnight (RCI Jewel was there for two nights) and we were able, if we wished, to leave the ship, go home or visit restaurants etc. in Boston and only had to be back on board by a specific time to learn when we would eventually sail. We decided to stay onboard because we were being lodged, served food and drinks, entertained and sheltered from the nasty outside weather. It wasn't a difficult decision. LOL

As you say, even when they depart the seas may not yet have calmed down sufficiently to make the ride a smooth one, but by taking proper preventative measures, things should be fine. It will likely be a cruise to talk about for some time to come, no matter what happens.:)

People who are susceptible to seasickness will have their wristbands and patches on. I love sailing in rough seas. Great for sleeping.

NCL ships are especially good in storms because their ships are not as high as other cruiselines. We sailed on the Dawn in a storm with much higher winds than this and barely noticed the motion. It is the best ship for these conditions. Worse ships during storms are the Princess ships because they are so high. Then tend to rock a lot.

We live 7 miles north of Cape Cod and the winds have not been any worse than most storms we get here. It was sunny this morning. Storm is moving quickly. Most of the storm will be out of here by midnight. People on the ship will wake up to gorgeous weather for the rest of their cruise. ENJOY!!!

You're lucky you can sleep in rough seas! We sailed a couple weeks ago and the slightest of rocking kept me awake. We only had small swells (no white caps) on a couple of occasions.

We were in Plymouth (manomet) yesterday and the flooded roads were unbelievable from the amount of rain that fell (7 inches)! The temperature this morning was 30 degrees less than yesterday but steadily rising... Have a great day leafpeeper!

Do you know when she finally headed out?

Marinetraffic's tracking has the Dawn inside heading out north of Cape Cod Bay about 1:15 AM EDT or 5:15 UTC at 10 knots to 11.5 knots for the overnight hours - now 19.5 knots (within the last 45 minutes) so it's full speed ahead for Bermuda.

Webcam showing no white wavelets so moderate sea, probably still windy & the sky is bright, with all that rain most gone out further.

Happy & safe cruising. :p

Ship tracker is showing her southeast of Nantucket so she must have stayed somewhere in the bay most of the night.

Should be some interesting stories to hear when folks return from this cruise.:)

it will be breezy at 19-20 knots, but they'll make up some time for sure...

Hello Bill (NEGC), I've got Shak down here in FLL... might have been a nice reunion.

Weary

Hi weary. Envied you this past winter. You didn't miss anything by being in FLL instead of Boston.:)

Thought I would update you all on what took place on the Dawn. Downpours right before sailing. We left about 90 min late. Lots of rolling Friday night. Barf bags placed around ship Friday night and Saturday morning. Capt's announcement at 10am, we had circled all night. We were only 36 miles from Nantucket. Delayed getting into Bermuda until 7pm vs. 7am Sunday. NCL pushed our Bermuda departure to Wed 4am instead of Tues 5:30pm.

Sat from mid-day on, sunny skies, calmer seas, only kept getting better.:):):)
