cruizinisthebest Posted July 11, 2014 #27 Share Posted July 11, 2014 well, people can't complain about smoking on the balcony now, so now they will complain about the music! Just anything! CruiseHealing Posted July 11, 2014 #28 Share Posted July 11, 2014 I was told many many years ago that line dancing was for people that don't feel comfortable dancing freestyle or regular dancing. Also it gets people on the floor that have no one to dance with. I agree they play the song way too much, but its fun to hear it and maybe dance to it a couple of times during a cruise. winddawn Posted July 11, 2014 #29 Share Posted July 11, 2014 well, people can't complain about smoking on the balcony now, so now they will complain about the music! Music complaints have been going on for months. It really heated up when Carnival dropped the Calypso bands on Lido. I'd just be happy to hear anything with steel drums, some Kenny Chesney and Zac Brown Band. Sigh. A girl can dream. Jimmy Geegitz Posted July 11, 2014 #31 Share Posted July 11, 2014 I would rather not hear another Billy Joel song as long as I live. Wayyyyy more overplayed that the line dance tunes.

CoasterJoe Posted July 11, 2014 #33 Share Posted July 11, 2014 Please Carnival and other lines that do.... Please STOP playing these songs 500 hundred times in one cruise. I can stand it maybe one or 2 times but not every time I walk out onto the Lido Deck. Electric Boogie: Cupid Shuffle: Cha Cha Slide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a82ijOetZEQ We are on a cruise to relax and get away from being told what to do by our work, school, parents, ect... We don't need to be told how to dance from the music on a cruise too! [End/Rant] I'm ok with the electric slide, but the others have to go. . . sammee Posted July 11, 2014 #34 Share Posted July 11, 2014 They did do the Macarena on the Fantasy back in May. I didn't mind it at all. It gets people up and going. It's easy, by the pool, the bar, you can dress in shorts, jeans, bathing suit. It's so relaxing. I couldn't get the Cupid Shuffle out of my head for almost a month. It actually grew on me. Ph0kis Posted July 11, 2014 Author #35 Share Posted July 11, 2014 Even though I like it. Piano Man gets pretty played out on the ship too. I hope the fun ship 2.0 upgrade with dj irie mentoring the djs on how to entertain better will help. All I am saying is they play those songs over and over again, there are plenty of other options than the same line songs over and over everyday. And, I don't like being told how to dance. :D

Rare Honolulu Blue Posted July 12, 2014 #38 Share Posted July 12, 2014 This is a bit off topic, but I was in the MDR on my last cruise and they played seven Michael Jackson songs in a row. I like M.J., but I thought that was a little much.

Elaine5715 Posted July 12, 2014 #41 Share Posted July 12, 2014 Exactly. We just got off the Miracle in June and I was so surprised when they DIDN'T sign that song. They had a wonderful elderly man singing different songs every night (wife thought it was the maitre d, but I didn't think so). Sure they waiter's sang some of the songs but they didn't sing the old "leaving on a jet plane". On the Miracle.? It would have been the Maitre'd Ken..he is well-known for his singing
Ehpride Posted July 12, 2014 #42 Share Posted July 12, 2014 I'd rather hear all of those than Gangham Style. I heard that one about 15 times on my last cruise. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
kingoftheicedragons Posted July 12, 2014 #43 Share Posted July 12, 2014 The cupid shuffle doesn't sound familiar to me all that much. The Cha Cha Slide, however, is one of those songs that mean cruising, and they should continue playing that song until and unless something better comes along. So far, nothing has. We hadn't heard that song until we first sailed in 2007, and then in 2008, it was played from the ship super loud in Port Canaveral as people were outside waiting to check in. I think that helped add to the excitement of being on a cruise.

cruiserNC Posted July 12, 2014 #48 Share Posted July 12, 2014 All those songs still draw crowds to the floor so I guess from Carnival's view they are a success. againin13 Posted July 12, 2014 #50 Share Posted July 12, 2014 Aww Come on you guys, the music and the dancing is what a lot of us look forward to. It changes the whole atmosphere. Helps us forget all of our worries and woes if only for a little while. It allows people without dance partners to join in something fun and festive. They don't even care if you know the steps. So hey let's all go with the flow, there's plenty of easy listening music in other areas. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
