Hi all,

Just got back from our fabulous mediterranean cruise with the Celebrity Reflection. This was our first cruise with Celebrity and i am looking for another cruise next year.

We heard someone talking about 2 new ships they're building.

Anyone has more info on this?

Thanks,

Christophe

No new ships on the Drawing Board.

In actuality, Celebrity has the newest fleet afloat out of all the mainstream Cruise Lines... Once the Century is retired in 2015' she'll have 9 vessels all built since 2000... Millenium Series 4 Ships launched in 2001 & 2002 and Solstice Class made up of 5 Gorgeous big ships launched 2008 thru 2012

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celebrity_Cruises

Compare those stats to any other Cruise Line, and you'll be shocked to discover just how many 20+ year ships are the backbone of the major lines.

New Ships set Celebrity apart for sure.

With 5 Bulids / Launches 2008 thru 2012 (one a year) Celebrity has plenty of new to offer for awhile (and continues to wow in this category... As each year she seems to continue to win awards for Customer Satisfaction / Experience in this category... Believe each ship in the S-Class has won awards)

Rumor has it the next Ship Series will come round the late teens... As it does seem Celebrity launches in a ten year cycle.

Hope this helps,

Cheers!

Lesson #1: Don't believe rumors you hear on the ship.

I've said this before: "Those who talk don't know. Those who know don't talk."

If you read all the official reports and documents you will find that there are no current plans to build new ships for Celebrity. New ships are coming for RCCL.

We did hear on the President's Cruise that planning meetings are taking place. Still, from planning, to design, to contracts, to building, to launch, looking at a five year time frame seems about right.

From everything I've heard your time frame from concept to build is correct. The M Class will be approaching 20 years of service by then and it might be better to slowly phase them out and replace as they've done with the C Class ships. All speculation until Celebrity says something.

As Orator notes, Royal Caribbean [same parent company as Celebrity] has two new ships--Quantum Of The Seas and Anthem Of The Seas--coming into service very soon...

That's a somewhat plausible variation on what you heard...

Actually your statement that Celebrity has the youngest fleet is incorrect. MSC the Italian mainstream cruiseline has the youngest. 12 ships built after 2000.

Appreciate this excellent above summary. Especially, the "Those who talk don't know. Those who know don't talk."

The world tourism market is still soft and consumer tastes/interest are evolving. Just building more ship at the wrong time is not smart.

THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

These are ships on order across the cruise lines

Appreciate this interesting listing/link. WOW, Royal Carib has some big, BIG ships that are very costly to build in their future production schedule. Plus, lots of space to fill, staff, etc., for RCI and these other cruise lines.

THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio
