Wildcatfish Posted August 11, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 11, 2014 Last week on Oasis when we arrived at Studio B for the Frozen in Time show it was crowded as usual. Our daughter spotted some empty seats, and led us to them. They were prime seats!! Nearly a full row was empty. A lady quickly tried to block us from heading down the row telling us "those seats are saved". I informed her that saving seats was not allowed, and proceeded past her. She yelled, "Says who?". I replied, "Royal Caribbean". Shortly after that an announcement was made about how seat saving was not allowed. So I just want to thank that lady for "saving" great seats for my family, and several others who followed us down that row.
Aquahound Posted August 11, 2014 #2 Share Posted August 11, 2014 That's funny. :D I've done the same thing. Saving a seat or 2 is one thing, but a whole row is another. Good for you.

hollon Posted August 11, 2014 #4 Share Posted August 11, 2014 Funny! I agree I've saved one or two seats for members of my family b/c they got lost/turned around on the ship or simply late, I don't see anything wrong w/ that.
trev71 Posted August 11, 2014 #5 Share Posted August 11, 2014 I save my wifes seat while she went to the bathroom before and someone tried to sit there and I was like no way. I cant imagine saving a whole row. Still some people do that
Adayatatime Posted August 11, 2014 #6 Share Posted August 11, 2014 The trauma of saving seats is too much for me to handle, well done you! I surprised they didn't bring their sun loungers in with them.

Starry Eyes Posted August 11, 2014 #9 Share Posted August 11, 2014 good for you. keeping your companion's seat while they go to the restroom is one thing. trying to hold an entire row is quite another. I have not fussed when I have seen it happen, but I am glad took control of the situation. I hate it when somebody saves seats and their friends never show up, leaving those prime seats empty or going to the very last standby people in the door. Cindy Posted August 11, 2014 #10 Share Posted August 11, 2014 That's funny...good for you! We'll hold a seat or two for a bathroom break, but we take turns...I would never hold more than one or two seats for a very short time.
hintanjul Posted August 11, 2014 #11 Share Posted August 11, 2014 Thats excellent, a brilliant tactical offensive. Some of these folks just love to tick the majority of cruisers off. NOW-do you think this would work on the sunbed/lounger reservation specialists??:eek::eek: That would be a challenge!!!

However not certain why people are under the impression that it was a whole row the person had saved when OP stated " Our daughter spotted some empty seats," ? Johndoe813 Posted August 11, 2014 #13 Share Posted August 11, 2014 When i was on the Oasis a few years ago there were two kids who i guess had reservations for hairspray. They were trying to save a whole row of to the side where not very many people want to sit and they i guess they decided that it would be better to sit in the middle rows with the best seats. I watched them count off 18 seats in total to save. One sat at one end and one at the other. Well as people started to come in they were telling people they were saved and looking around for their party. Well a nice Australian man his wife a two other guys come walking up and the kid tells him oh these are saved. The guy looks right at him laughs says good luck with that now move your feet off the chair. They walked right past them and then came the flood of people. I think the kids ended up with 3 seats by the time their party showed up lol.
Royal2464 Posted August 11, 2014 #14 Share Posted August 11, 2014 Well done. Unfortunately we live in a world filled with self involved, ignorant fools who feel the rules do not apply to them. You see them every day. Whether it is saving seats in the theater, hogging deck chairs by the pool or blocking the left lane on highways for 50 miles. They are a plague on modern civilization. However not certain why people are under the impression that it was a whole row the person had saved when OP stated " Our daughter spotted some empty seats," ? Because it says "nearly a whole row was empty" in a prime location, and the woman tried to lock her from walking down the row. babyher Posted August 11, 2014 #17 Share Posted August 11, 2014 The seat saving reminds me of a funny story my mom told me. She lives in a senior condo in Florida . As she calls it "High School with wheelchairs" those sweet old ladies are just as cliquey and vengeful as the "mean girls" it group in high school. Any event in the clubhouse there will always be a couple of self appointed chair savers holding a row of seats or a table for her little hen group. One day my mom and her lady friend went to some event and went to sit down and were told "Sorry ladies one of those seats is for Edna, one of you can sit there but not both of you" My mothers lady friend (definately the inspiration for Sophia on The Golden Girls ) told the woman "Oh God you didn't hear ? I was just talking to Flo, She told me Edna had a heart attack this morning, she was talking to her daughter , she came to pick her up." The friend was lying through her teeth. The woman saving the seats was shocked, but in a place like that , these things are apart of life, so she just went back to her seat and kept quite. A little while later , in walks Edna , full of life , apologizing to her friends saying "Sorry I am late , I had a hair appointment" Naturally The lady holding the seat whips around and glares at my mother and her friend. The friend just looked equally as shocked and said "HAIR APPOINTMENT?????? Oh my God I though she said HEART ATTACK......friggin Beltone ...$4000 for these damn hearing aids and I am no better off then I was without. I need to have these things looked at " *LOL*

MOSusan Posted August 11, 2014 #19 Share Posted August 11, 2014 And why do people send their kids to hold the seats and fend off people? That elevates them to an even higher level of Jerk in my book.

Big_G Posted August 11, 2014 #23 Share Posted August 11, 2014 I wouldn't take the time to explain the policy but I would pass on a "Why thank you," just before my butt hit the seat. :D
deanfamily22 Posted August 11, 2014 #24 Share Posted August 11, 2014 Why the joy in taking the seat of individuals trying to sit together? I understand the policy, but please recognize these seat-savers just want to experience the event with their family and friends. It is a vacation after all; time to spend with those you love. The logistics of getting everyone in the party to the theater at the exact same moment don't always work out when family members are coming from all parts of the ship. Get there earlier if you need a specific seat. There are plenty of seats in the theater 15 minutes before show time. Take a saved seat if you want as you are entitled to by policy, but is it necessary to celebrate it?

The logistics of getting everyone in the party to the theater at the exact same moment don't always work out when family members are coming from all parts of the ship. Well then, that entire family can pick a meeting place outside the theater and all walk in together. One person trying to save an entire row of seats is unacceptable and I have no sympathy for her.
