Katjoy Posted August 12, 2014 #26 Share Posted August 12, 2014 If you look further down the form, you will see: "Veterans with an honorable discharge serving a minimum of 2 years or 6 months in an active war zone , or an educational discharge if within 90 days of their normal separation date in any of the applicable service divisions listed above". As long as your husband was honorably discharged, he should receive the OBC. My husband served 7 years, but not in an active war zone, and received the OBC. You should definitely apply. The worst they can do is deny the request but I don't think they will. Ours is automatically applied every time we cruise. We normally use a TA but I just sent the request myself the first time and all went well.http://www.princess.com/downloads/pdf/faq_answer_legal/Military_Personnel_Benefit_US.pdf Carol Oh wow, thank you so very much. I guess we did not read it correctly. I'm so grateful you set me straight. We are submitting my DH's military info right away. I love Cruise Critic. Thank you thank you thank you. My husband was 14 yr and I as well didn't think he qualified. But of course he did. I missed the quote above when at first quickly reading Princess criteria. We were very happy to get the OBC! Maybe if you call them and fax the info to them they will make an exception.

I will call them tomorrow if it does not show up. If I missed the deadline for this cruise then it will be there for our next cruise. I'll keep my fingers crossed as well. :)
Aviator of the Seas Posted August 13, 2014 #33 Share Posted August 13, 2014 I know that Cruise Critic is free, but it still pays to be a member! I got my veterans OBC within the hour after submitting the paperwork by fax and alerting my Travel Agent. Thank you, thank you, thank you to the OP of this thread and its contributors. This makes me feel much better about dishing out all this money for my upcoming Royal Princess cruise. Princess Cruises is really a step up with this program. Cheers! DiTomCruisers Posted August 13, 2014 #34 Share Posted August 13, 2014 New to Princess and my DH submitted his forms to receive OBC for his military service via email to the address on the form. This was weeks ago, and no credit nor any response to the email. We did book thru a TA, do we need to have the TA submit the info? Or fax instead of email? Thanks in advance for your help. I've done this on my past four cruises... Fax it in, cross out your SS# and it'll be added to your account. US Army '77-'

Katjoy Posted August 13, 2014 #38 Share Posted August 13, 2014 I'm so happy. I called Princess Cruise Line just now to say I faxed them my DH's Military Benefit Form yesterday afternoon but it was not showing up on our booking for August 24th to Alaska. The very kind woman checked, told me she found my fax & applied the $100 Military Credit to this cruise. Since I applied for this only 11 days from when we sail instead of the required 2 weeks stipulated on the form, I'm extremely pleased. It's wonderful to have some on board credit for this cruise. I had booked directly through Princess this time so we had no OBC until now :D
LeeW Posted August 13, 2014 #39 Share Posted August 13, 2014 Others haven't mentioned it, but it now shows up as a permanent credit in the Captains Circle account area - you don't have to keep applying for every cruise once you qualify.

I had read this on another Princess Board. Next time we book a cruise on Princess it will be wonderful to have this show up as a permanent credit. I'll most likely verify it is on future bookings. Thank you all for your input.

JJ2sail Posted August 13, 2014 #43 Share Posted August 13, 2014 Once Princess applies the military benefit they will email a new cruise confirmation, which shows the obc, to either the travel agent or directly to the guest if no agent is on record. So make sure Princess has your email address.

GradUT Posted August 14, 2014 #47 Share Posted August 14, 2014 Can the OBC be used towards your tips? No, it cannot be used for gratuities or casino charges. Here's the quote from the Princess Military Personnel Benefit Onboard Credit Program page: "This offer cannot be used for casino credits/charges and gratuities." Astro Flyer Posted August 14, 2014 #48 Share Posted August 14, 2014 (edited) No, it cannot be used for gratuities or casino charges. Here's the quote from the Princess Military Personnel Benefit Onboard Credit Program page: "This offer cannot be used for casino credits/charges and gratuities." Many have had the same experience as me despite that statement...it's simply a credit on your folio that offsets any debits (purchases). Thus it is used for gratuities but since I do not go to the casino I don't know how that works. Edited August 14, 2014 by Astro Flyer
Colo Cruiser Posted August 14, 2014 #49 Share Posted August 14, 2014 No, it cannot be used for gratuities or casino charges. Here's the quote from the Princess Military Personnel Benefit Onboard Credit Program page: "This offer cannot be used for casino credits/charges and gratuities." No it says that but as stated its just a credit on your account and charges are subtracted from it.
