firsttimecruiser403 Posted August 15, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 15, 2014 Hi Everyone Never been on a cruise before. Just wondering what I can expect to pay for my tab at the end- or at least what some people paid at the end when settling their cruise card account. I know this varies greatly. But we (two of us) have excursions totaling about $400 and we're not big drinkers (but certainly don't limit ourselves), maybe 2-3 each per day. We didn't purchase a drink package but we might go visit Eataly and have dinner and a bottle of wine. I know that there's a daily service charge but I'm just wondering what I can expect when checking out. Don't want to be shocked when we get our bill! I know this is completely subjective and completely different for each cruiser. I'm just trying to ballpark a cost and figure out what I should set aside. What were your experiences with checking out on the Divina and what you consider a normal tab at the end of a cruise for two people? Thanks and happy cruising! Firsttimecruiser,,first,,welcome to CC!! On top of your excursions, there will be a daily service charge of $12.00 pp ($84.00 weekly). Also a 15% bar service charge on drinks, and a 15% spa service charge for any spa services. It's hard to give you a hard number,, but maybe, $50.00 per person, per day to start. That allows you to have about 5 drinks each at $7.50 per drink plus service charge. Edited August 15, 2014 by Mikesa1721

Rare Beamafar Posted August 15, 2014 #5 Share Posted August 15, 2014 You really should consider the Allegrissimo drinks package. You don't have to be a big drinker to get your money's worth. Speciality coffees, soft drinks, ice-cream cones, wine/beer with your meals - not to mention non-alcoholic cocktails. Then add in your one or two drinks - it's a no-brainer! Pre-booking it also saves on the 15% service charge. Unless, of course, you want to spend your cruisetime adding up your receipts at the end of each day fretting about what you've spent
jkgourmet Posted August 15, 2014 #6 Share Posted August 15, 2014 Actually, I'd suggest the drink coupons and/or a wine package - but remember that when you buy the wine package by the bottle, you can only drink it in the dining rooms. Seriously, those vouchers bring the price of a drink down to $4.80 and if you order them pre boarding, no 15% service charge is added! Price for a bottle of wine can go as low as $12/bottle! Giantfan13 Posted August 16, 2014 #7 Share Posted August 16, 2014 The cost on board a ship is what you make of it. Ourselves, we do not drink and we usually eat in the MDR for every meal, for us it's fine. We usually pre pay for our tips, and we very rarely do any ship's excursions. I hate to say this, but on our last cruise (on Carnival) our bill came to $5.00. My DW bought a magnet. :D:D Again, that's us, and we know we are in the very minority, but you should try and keep track of your bill, so you don't have a big surprise at the end of the cruise. Does the Divina have your account on the TV? where you can view it anytime and see how things are going> Cheers Len

maureencruiser Posted August 16, 2014 #9 Share Posted August 16, 2014 I bought the vouchers, but, I've been thinking about upgrading to the full package. I don't drink a lot, but, lately I've been drinking iced mocha caramels from McDonald's. To get alcohol, drinks like that, would be nice. People say ice cream is covered- is that the gelato or something else? Also, if someone can tell me if the Nutella crepes are covered, it would be a wrap. :D

Just tubs and cones on the basic classic package. I'd imagine the sundaes and creeps would be included in the premium one. There is squally a big difference in price so often you are better off buying the cheaper one and buying the occasional treat that is not included than paying almost double to get the premium one. maureencruiser Posted August 16, 2014 #11 Share Posted August 16, 2014 Thanks, Amomondo, the price in US dollars is $44 for the regular and $57 for the premium or whatever it is called, throw in some sodas, water, juice and a couple of crepes, I just might have talked myself into it. I got the cruise so cheap, I can afford to pay for the package. I'll keep track of what I spend and see how I made out. Worst case scenario, if I don't like the food, I can fill up on gelato! ;) I'm doing the Eastern Caribbean, so, there are only 2 ports (St Maarten and Puerto Rico) and the private island, I assume I can use the package on the island? Thanks to everyone for helping me sort it out. Gambee is off the ship today, so, I can't wait to see his photos and hear his thoughts.

I had the premium, and not sure about the nutella crepes, never had one, but it includes all the sundae and all the pastries and of course all the gelato and includes your stateroom water and bar. I think the pastry shop everything was under $6 but I didn't look at the price as it was included. I would go down grab 2 small cannolis and a glass of real champagne. yummy. The juice bar is good too.
maureencruiser Posted August 18, 2014 #18 Share Posted August 18, 2014 ring the changes › to do something in a different way in order to make it more interesting: :D Since I had to google it, I pasted it here for the rest of my American friends. This is definitely what I am going to do. I usually limit myself due to finances, but, now if I try something, I can get something else if I don't like it. :) I read they have a shot of Brandy that costs $22. I wonder what Brandy tastes like. :D:eek::D

What do you mean "no more $12 per bottle on Divina"? I just booked the 7 bottle dinner wine package for $72 USD yesterday on their website.
