tel2 Posted August 15, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 15, 2014 Stupid question, but I havent seen it answered/discussed here. We were given the UBP as a perk of a land casino -- never would have bought it because it we do not drink that much. I drink pretty much only wine, and on breakaway I loved those randomly placed wine dispensers where I could just go refill my wine glass without going to the bar. If you have the UBP, can you use the wine dispensers? Terry
GrabMyWrist Posted August 15, 2014 #2 Share Posted August 15, 2014 (edited) No, you cannot. http://www.ncl.com/promo/ultimate-beverage-package/terms Edited August 15, 2014 by GrabMyWrist

johnql Posted August 16, 2014 #4 Share Posted August 16, 2014 No, you cannot. http://www.ncl.com/promo/ultimate-beverage-package/terms This must be a relatively recent change. According to the following thread, you were allowed to use the UBP on the wine dispensing machines. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1865279&highlight=ubp+wine+dispenser
GrabMyWrist Posted August 16, 2014 #5 Share Posted August 16, 2014 Not recent at all. That said, I watched many people be denied on the Getaway. Some ships may allow it or not care. I'm just sharing what NCL's policy is.
mjkacmom Posted August 16, 2014 #6 Share Posted August 16, 2014 What a bummer that it changed - I really enjoyed using them on the breakaway in November.
LrgPizza Posted August 16, 2014 #7 Share Posted August 16, 2014 That's news to me. When I sailed the Getaway on 5/31, the wine I got from the dispenser was included with my UBP at that time. We specifically checked our statement to be sure.
mcsb11 Posted August 16, 2014 #8 Share Posted August 16, 2014 IF YOU HAVE THE UBP, DO NOT USE THE WINE STATIONS!!! You will be charged. I'm in the process of disputing charges due to this, and my opinion of ncl is souring by the second. It's gotten to the point where I'm ready to call my cc company and dispute charges w them. Be forewarned. No matter what anyone may tell you... The machines are not part of the ubp.

We were NOT charged when I used the machines on our 5/31 cruise on the Getaway with my UBP. I have no clue if we were supposed to be or not (I hadn't checked the terms before we sailed), but for some reason we were not charged. I'm sorry the same wasn't the case for you, and we definitely won't use them again, just in case. Edited August 16, 2014 by LrgPizza
MaryL31 Posted August 16, 2014 #11 Share Posted August 16, 2014 New to NCL. What is the self-serve wine dispenser? I will not have the beverage package. Is it something that you swipe your card to be charged and then serve yourself the wine? I have never heard of this. is it available on the Sun? Thanks in advance... Yes, you swipe your card and serve yourself. I'm pretty sure the self-service wine dispensers are only on the Breakaway and Getaway. Here's what they look like:

garycarla Posted August 16, 2014 #14 Share Posted August 16, 2014 Not being charged does not mean they were allowing it. It means they system did not charge you. Similar to people that were able to download cash in casino and not pay the 3%, but now it does. Systems issues.

johnql Posted August 16, 2014 #18 Share Posted August 16, 2014 oh brother :eek:Thanks for the information.:) I think they justify it by calling it a "restocking fee".

Similar to people that were able to download cash in casino and not pay the 3%, but now it does. Systems issues. No, the system charged me. Then the charge was reversed due to UBP. It appeared the same as all our other drink charges. Then like the other drink charges it was cancelled out. It appears from more recent cruisers though that doesn't happen any longer.
