I've never used this or really looked into it much, honestly.

So now each drink is taxed (pop and booze) not the package as a whole?

Is juice still included?

We are debating trying in Oct but not 100%. I will get my use out of it the hubby not so much.

Package as a whole was never taxed. You were, and are, charged just the tax on drinks consumed while in US ports under the program.

Their FAQ is updated now with the following prices...

Using the CHEERS! beverage package, guests can enjoy a wide variety of wine, beer and spirits (including cocktails and frozen drinks), along with sodas and non-alcoholic frozen cocktails throughout the voyage at one convenient flat rate plus tax and a 15% gratuity added at the time the package is purchased.

3 day $55 per person/per day

4 day $45 per person/per day

5 and 6 day $42.50 per person/per day

7 days and longer $37.50 per person/per day

Prices are subject to change and price adjustments (up or down) implemented on the day of sailing will replace any previously advertised price.

Who knows??

Agreed. The last sentence is their escape clause for changes at any time, hoping they won't make changes without notice to all. Some Miami Beard really screwed up yesterday with what was released.

Totally agree with you.

Sent from my phone. Typos are inevitable.

Thinks of it as nights not days. It makes it easer

Well I agree, because that's what Carnival is calling their cruises, but some posters are talking about 4/5/6 day cruises and idk what they're talking about. On a 5 night out of Galveston, because the earliest you can buy is day 2, will I be charged $42.50 x 4, which will start day 2 and run out on the last full day on the ship, the day before disembarkation? Or will it cost $42.50 x 5, day 2 through day 6 (the day we have to apparently be up and off the ship before noon).

If you're on a 7 day cruise, you pay for 7 days...unless you buy on day 2 (-1 day)

As for tax, you pay the local sales tax for drinks purchased while in port...Pt Canaveral 6%

Tampa 6%, Barcelona 12%, etc....that includes Cheers.

There is no tax on package since they don't ring up until after departure.

Hope this helps :)

I wish it helped, but it doesn't. Most posters keep answering the same questions over and over and unfortunately I'm not asking the same question that has already been asked. I'm not asking about tax, or a 7 day cruise (or even a 7 night cruise, the number of nights being how Carnival classifies their cruises after all).

What I'm asking is what I've posted probably over five times in this and other threads. On my 5 NIGHT cruise out of TX, if I purchase Cheers for the maximum amount of time I am allowed I will be charged for $42.50 x what number??

If anyone cares to help, answering that last question for me would make everything crystal clear.

People have answered this over and over again. NIGHTS. Your card will not work on debarkation day. Nothing can be purchased, bought, acquired. Zilch, nada, nothing, no way. Sorry but we have all attempted to answer the same question numerous times. You just never listened.

Oh missy428 cleared up any and all confusion on the previous page, but bless your heart!

Thanks. That also means the answer to the question "Do you pay for disembarkation day?" Is no. Perfect. Thanks again.

To save yourself future confusion, cruises calculate by nights spent onboard. A 7 day/night cruise is 7days (not 7 nts 8 days). Cruise day 1 is Embark day....last day is not counted.

Adding to confusion because land tours always count travel days as part of their trip making the day & night counts different.

For those with the Half Moon Cay port you should begin amassing beers the day before to take onshore with you . Or in 20 minutes you could get 4 Foster's which is eight 12 ounce beers. Load that backpack up :D! If you bought cheers you should go ahead and get your money's worth. Carnival's excuse about not being able to ascertain if someone has gone over the 15 drink limit on HMC is rather pathetic in this day and age of wireless everything.

I brought a water bottle full of ice ashore and there was ice water and lemonade available. HMC has paved paths and roads so you don't have to drag stuff through sand. You can get unopened cans of soda and bottles of beer the day before to take with you and get ice from the bars

They have the technology they just don't want to use it. I suspect they make a killing off people who aren't prepared when they get off the ship...

"Package allows for up to 15 alcoholic drinks per 24 hour period (6:00am-6:00am); once the limit is reached, the guest will not be served any additional alcoholic drinks"

So you wake up and after breakfast decide to have a bloody mary or two to take the edge of your hangover. At lunch you have 3 or 4 beers and while lounging by the pool you have 2 or 3 drinks of the day. you and your friends get together in the afternoon and have another 3 or 4 beers at the bar. Maybe a shot or two because you're on vacation and really whooping it up like a crazy person. Well, you are done until tomorrow morning. Party time is over. No wine with dinner, no drinks at the casino and forget grabbing a beer at the dance club.

That's right. Once your package limit is reached for the day you will no longer be served. You can't even buy it. One cruiser I spoke to said they caught him with a beer after he reached his limit and it was taken away.

The flip side? Don't buy the package and they are more than happy to serve you drinks as long as you can stand.

That works if you drink beer. It wouldn't help someone lime me who doesn't.

That basically exists for a lot of things, where they take advantage and charge a premium. That's why sites like this are helpful to educate educate educate.
