How to cash out onboard credit on Celebrity ships

(Of course this only helps if you want to play slots anyway.)

Just to confirm what u said about getting cash in the casino. So instead of getting cash they give you a credit ticket for the slots....then you go to the slot machine, feed in the slip and instead of playing you cash out immediately, you then take the cash out slip to the pay out counter and they refund your" winnings" in cash.

We are just off of the Silhouette and were able to cash out a chunk of our OBC at the casino ($200). They did take their 5% cut, of course, but we felt lucky to still be able to do so!

I have $750 shipboard credit for my up coming cruise in July. $300 from celebrity and $450 from TA. I am planning to take cash out. Not sure if this OBC-Refundable or Non-Refundable. How to find out?

Say, if this is OBC-Non-Refundable can I go to Casion and get cash by paying 5% or do they give me Chips to play and then cash back the chips?

Just off the Celebrity Summit (January 9 2016 SAIL DATE) and we were able to cash out $500 from our OBC. NO QUESTIONS ASKED. We had no fee as we were in a Suite.

I can tell you that the casino has NO idea how much OBC you have and if you tell them you want to cash out your OBC they will tell you they cant do it. Simply ask for cash on your account.

Too much yapping on these boards, so now X is closing a sweet deal of cashing out OBC.

Doesn't take X monitoring these boards to figure this out.....when x amount of $ is cashed out in the casino and y amount is played it wouldn't take them long to see the problem...I think they have known all along but previously didn't hand out OBC like they do now, before it was mostly OBC from TA's so they didn't care but now its house money and they want it used in house!

I'm sure that's why they instituted the 5% service charge. Up until a few years ago, you were able to take up to $2000 a day out of casino with no charge. People would use it to pay tips or just bring it home and then pay the bill off. Advantage was that it all went on the credit card at the end of the week with everything else you bought on the ship as one purchase. It was a great way for people to get extra miles or whatever incentive the credit card company gave you. This went on for years, surprised it took them so long to catch on.

If I use cash to play, how do they know if I played or not and how much????

We were on the Reflection Jan23 and 30 btb cruises. We had $450 non refundable OBC for each leg of the cruise. Luckily, we enjoy blackjack and each week we asked for $400 at the table. ( obviously $20 in fee charged ) We played quite a bit and were fortunate to do well at the tables and come out a little bit ahead.

There was one new procedure on the Reflection. Each time you sat at the blackjack table, you were asked for your Seapass card. The dealer then inputted which seat you were in and how many chips you bought. This was the first time in many Celebrity cruises where our play was tracked.

How about OBC® given my your Travel Agent? Can you get that at the Casino and/or refunded to your credit card?
On recent cruises the total remaining OBR (refundable) was automatically refunded to our credit card as usual at the end of the cruise.

The non-refundable OBN is a great marketing gimmick that not only motivates sales, but generates additional profit for them as well.

They raise the cruise prices and offer lots of OBN, knowing that passengers will view it as "free" money and use it to buy a lot of stuff on the ship that they don't really want and would never otherwise purchase.
