Back2Back cruise in FLL

It's interesting as the best thank you gifts we received for b-to-b/collector's cruises was on Nieuw Amsterdam. :) It was a few years ago and a Thanksgiving cruise but we had complimentary Tamarind Dinner, 'out of the ordinary' cocktail party and I think there was something else. It wasn't necessarily our favorite ship/cruise but we enjoyed the gifts. :)

The first time we sailed on the Nieuw Amsterdam was over Thanksgiving in 2010 -- her inaugural season -- got nothing.

I'm happy I got a collection of the nice Mariners Tote bags we used to get for Collector's Cruises. It disappointment when they discontinued that. Those bags are nice. :)

During the time when HAL was giving out the lovely Mariners tote bags we did 7 Collectors Cruises but only ended up with 3 bags.

You always seem to get the short end somehow.

We always got At Least one bag each Collector's Cruise and sometimes more. ;)

  • 3 weeks later...

Sorry I have been off line for a couple of weeks. Had out of state visitor's and then lost our internet connection for a few days as well.

CCer's are the BEST - it is so AWESOME that we have this community of seasoned cruiser's to help one another. I have been a member for YEAR's! And, I have to tell you I was in the travel industry for a number of year's the 70's to the 90's. Even though I was considered a cruise specialist- LOL - I have learned as much if not MORE from cruise critic member's.

I have had the Incredible opportunity to have been on some 40 + cruises now. Yet I learn more here on CC each time I go.

I am so thankful and enjoy this community and how much we help one another.

A HUGE THANK YOU to all of you for your first hand experiences and knowledge that you have shared here. I appreciate the information and now feel well prepared for turnaround day.

:D

Most of the drawers on HAL ships are interchangeable between cabins. Leave your drawers filled and you can transfer the empties from your new cabin back to the old cabin.

The only things you need to 'pack' are those items in your bathroom and on countertops.

All hanging garments can be rolled on a hanging cart like bellhops in hotels use.

Your stewards will help you.

Verry usefull info, we are not on an official B2B, just remaining on board for the following cruise and transfering to the next door cabin for the 2nd cruise. We probably will be doing an excursion that day in FLL, but will coordinate with our room stewards.

Just remember to back on the ship for lifeboat drill.

Last November and again in March/April, on the Nieuw Amsterdam, lifeboat drill was at 3:45 -- latest we have ever had one when the ship departs at 4.

Thanks for the tip, we will be doing a HAL excursion, so we assume we are in good hands. :)

What a nice post. :)

For me, the next best thing to cruising is talking about it here on CC. :)

If you board early, think about going to the cabin you will occupy your second segment and snap photo of the layout of drawers. When you are preparing to move for the second segment of your cruises, if you have the photos you will know exactly how many drawers you will be able to swap out. By boarding early, you have some chance of getting next door to that cabin before your neighbors arrive.

I have been searching for 5 days on the forum and can not seem to find any information as to what the procedures are for doing a Back2Back in FLL.

We have booked the Eurodam for 14 days doing a Western/Eastern cruise.

Wondering what we must do on turn around day in FLL. Must we get off the ship? Or, do we somehow get cleared on the ship? Or, do we not have to do anything IF we want to stay onboard?

Thank you in advance for the help.:)

The info will come the last day.

I was thinking more on the subject of tipping after the 1st week as some crew member's may be leaving the ship.

I certainly can see that we will want to do that with any Extra tips we are giving to the crew that help us the first week.

However, what do we do about the 1st week charges that are put on our ship board account???

What about them? They are on your bill from the first week. Usually that bill rolls over to the second cruise, unless you make other arrangements.

For all our b-to-b's, we always tip the last night of the first cruise and again at the end of the second segment. :) Your choice, of course.

Same here. You never know if someone is leaving or if you will get different servers during the 2nd week.

of our B2B as suggested above. Sorry I didn't pose my question correctly.

Being the tips are on the shipboard account. How do we get them given out after the 1st week. In case some of the people are leaving the ship.

Do you cash out at the end of the 1st week? Then start the 2nd week?

Obvisouly, I know that for the people we want to give extra $'s to we would give it directly to them at the end of each week.

I was referring to additional cash tips. If you are referring to tipping from the hotel service charge via your onboard account, the ship's accounting system takes care of that based on days worked.

Thank you for clarifying that for us.

On a back-to-back or Collector's Cruise, we always give out extra tips at the end of each segment.

For the dining room staff, knowing that we will not be dining there on the last night each cruise (we don't like the International Dinner), we give our waiters their extra tips on the next to the last night.

Hi,

so another question about F. Lauderdale B2B. We are booked on the Eurodam in November.

How many Formal nights can we expect?

According to another thread, HAL has two formal nights per 7-day cruise. So for B2B that means two which are usually on sea days.

Of course the Captain can change the number.

It should be two per cruise for a total of 4 in 14 days.
