windsor26 Posted September 15, 2014 #1 Share Posted September 15, 2014 The Sea Princess latest cruise was only one night before it was cancelled and the customers disembarked. My question is NOT about the compensation or credit for the next cruise or out of pocket expenses. My question is this......... Say you booked the cruise with 2 x FCC letters $125 each Princess was giving as part of the offer $100 per cabin The TA was giving $85 per cabin You are both on your over 21 cruises 2 x $25 You own shares $250 Total on board credit (nothing to do with the cost of the cruise) $735 The casino could not have opened so you could not get any cash out that way You cannot purchase anything in the shop as they do not open when in dock How do you get the on board credit back Do the pursers desk have enough cash on board or do they send you a cheque or pass it to your credit card. Colo Cruiser Posted September 15, 2014 #2 Share Posted September 15, 2014 I would say if you don't complete the cruise you don't get the obc.

Colo Cruiser Posted September 15, 2014 #4 Share Posted September 15, 2014 (edited) Now I know you are wrong I just need the correct reply from someone who does know Well obviously you don't know I am wrong otherwise you would not have asked the question. If you don't complete the cruise how do you figure they owe you the obc which is based on the entire cruise? I say you would get back the fcc's but thats it. Thrak Posted September 15, 2014 #5 Share Posted September 15, 2014 You don't get the OBC. It was promotional stuff for the cruise. You should get your FCC refunded so you can use it again. You will also get whatever compensatory payment or credit Princess offers for your cancelled cruise. Period.
pablo222 Posted September 15, 2014 #6 Share Posted September 15, 2014 Now I know you are wrong I just need the correct reply from someone who does know You will not get a refund, but princess will send a steward to your home who will clean it for 14 days. hawkeyetlse Posted September 15, 2014 #8 Share Posted September 15, 2014 Since the passengers were on board overnight, I assume their passenger accounts were activated and they were charged for bar purchases etc. If any refundable OBC was posted to the account, the passengers should get that back when settling the bill. Most promotional OBC is non-refundable, though, which probably explains the reports of the bars being very full once the cancellation was announced! For people who purchased beverage packages, spa passes, Sanctuary passes, etc. for the entire cruise, I hope all of that will be fully refunded. Rare PescadoAmarillo Posted September 15, 2014 #9 Share Posted September 15, 2014 Though I can't tell how it will happen, I can't imagine you wouldn't get your refundable OBCs returned to you. Why would you not? You presented yourself for a cruise, and through no fault of your own it was cut short. Those people who booked the short cruises last winter and essentially got them for free were able to collect their OBCs. Princess was paying them to cruise. As we say in our house, "Don't get me started...".
Rare geoherb Posted September 15, 2014 #10 Share Posted September 15, 2014 They're getting their money back plus 100 percent back in the form of a credit on a future cruise. I think any onboard credits should roll over to that cruise.
windsor26 Posted September 15, 2014 Author #11 Share Posted September 15, 2014 Thanks folks that was my thinking but I have asked this question on the roll call for the one night cruise and will post a reply if I get a definitive one

whatcruiseisnext Posted September 16, 2014 #14 Share Posted September 16, 2014 (edited) A few years ago we were on the Crown when the cruise was cut short for severe Norovirus and was returned to homeport. In regard to the credits on the cruise that we were on our FCC were not returned to our Captains Circle accounts but came in the form of a refund to our credit card. No non-refundable credits were given as a refund. Refundable credits were allowed to be cashed out at the pursers desk or you could wait for a check to be sent to you. Nothing could be transferred to a different cruise. We also got a more than generous credit on a future cruise, free drinks on the night the announcement was made that we were returning home, free airfare home, free phone calls home and refund of 100% of the cruise fare paid. People were so rude to some of the staff. We even witnessed someone going so far as to spit on a staff member at the pursers desk because "he paid for a cruise and he wasn't getting off no matter what and Princess was going to pay for this". hawkeyetlse Posted September 16, 2014 #15 Share Posted September 16, 2014 Did you get credits for the cruise/days towards your Captain's Circle status?
likeadisguise Posted September 16, 2014 #16 Share Posted September 16, 2014 Yes, you get the CC points as if the cruise had sailed.
Colo Cruiser Posted September 16, 2014 #17 Share Posted September 16, 2014 Yes, you get the CC points as if the cruise had sailed. Not necessarily, the cruise was not completed and was canceled and compensated. Good chance no credit will be issued.
likeadisguise Posted September 16, 2014 #18 Share Posted September 16, 2014 I can't speak for every situation, but for the recent Sea Princess cancellation, I was told yes, they would get the CC credit.

vickie_bernie Posted September 17, 2014 #21 Share Posted September 17, 2014 note the loyalty credit you receive of $25 is only one obc per cabin Also I wanted to add that I have had obc that were exactly what you mention and I had $20 left on last day and saw a $20 credit on my last statement but figured it was lost since I always believed it was not refundable. When I went to bing out of security at the gangway it went bong and was told to go to Purser's desk. Where they said, you have a credit and gave me the credit in cash. first and last time that ever happened . Vickie
