Shazzajoy Posted September 25, 2014 #1 Share Posted September 25, 2014 Hi, We are travelling on the Celebrity Century in a couple of months leaving from Sydney and I'm a little confused about what currency will be used on board to charge our onboard accounts. Will it be in Australian Dollars or American Dollars?

gbenjo Posted September 25, 2014 #4 Share Posted September 25, 2014 Yep, definitely US dollars, However, you can have your final statement given to you in Aust dollars. If you are paying with your credit card the ship will convert the account to Aussie dollars and charge you three percent of the final amount for the currency conversion, ( tick A on your Set Sail Document) or you can have your statement left in US dollars and have your own bank do the the conversion ( Tick B ) and the fee will be whatever your particular bank charges. Check with your bank and if they charge less than three percent TICK B, it is usually the better option. If you are paying your account with cash you can still pay in Aussie dollars but the ship will convert it to US dollars at a pretty poor conversion rate , so take US dollars if you can.
