Husky61 Posted September 26, 2014 #30 Share Posted September 26, 2014 Do they know who put in place a false alarm and why? I hope it wasn't some sick joke, Perhaps the person/s who called in the alarm actually thought it was a person overboard. Who said that when they called in the alarm they knew it was false?
Loucat Posted September 26, 2014 #31 Share Posted September 26, 2014 So if the head count was correct, was this a false alarm? Did they say anthing about this? We were on CB in August when a man overboard alert was sounded. It was for real! It was totally dark; luckily someone witnessed the event and the crew did an incredible job in rescuing the person who went over. There was no head count. The person was put off at the next port so I assume it was not an accident.

Putterdude Posted September 27, 2014 #34 Share Posted September 27, 2014 We did have a real man overboard from the Sapphire returning from Alaska a few years ago .... sadly it was deliberate and the person was not noted as being missing until we disembarked in Vancouver. A few years before that on New Years Eve on the Diamond we were woken up twice by Capt. Ed Perrin, a child had gone missing ....fortunately the child had fallen asleep untended on the balcony while the parents went out to party. The second was a crew member ...... who unfortunately for him was found in a passenger's cabin.
