I am booked on the Glory December 6th in a inside room on deck 7 I chose this cabin, now the gty ocean view rooms are less then what I paid for my inside.

I am booked early saver could I change to a ocean view if I wanted to and what are the chances of getting a bad room??

We booked guarantee for the first time a couple months ago for our September cruise and ended up in nearly the same room that I would have picked for myself - about 2-3 rooms down. We got really lucky, but I would definitely try it again in the future.

I normally like to book my own room - like to have that control and know where I'm going to be but 2 times we have done the guarantee.

First time was in 2004 and we were upgraded (not upsold) from an OV guarantee to a balcony and it was awesome.

For our Sunshine sailing in 9 days we booked an OV guarantee and ended up on the Promenade deck in one of the "new" cabins. Our PVP said that we lucked up because it was a great location. We will see in a few days but it does look like they picked up a good one!

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Have done it about 4x an happy with results but always a risk of getting a cabin below galley or other noisy area.

exactly why I would not do the oceanview guarantee.

Being under the dining rooms are not a problem as the area is carpeted.

Being under the show lounge will be very loud until about midnight.

if you got a cabin in the riviera deck-- great because its under cabin space

Oceanview cabins are on the two lowest decks.

I would go for the GTY OV. When they assign your cabin, see what category it is and if you don't like the location you could ask for a specific cabin in that category. If you do call to change (after getting your cabin), look up what's available so you can give them a cabin number that you would like. Or if you have a TA, they should go to bat for you. Good luck!

The one time we went this way we had really good luck. However this may not be the case for everyone. Person on our roll call did an OV guarantee and ended up in a place I would not have minded, but I can see others who may not have liked it. Best part of a cruise cabin?? It is on a cruise ship away from work...

Happy sailing

We've done a gty cabin half a dozen times and it worked fine all except once.

That time we got a balcony directly under the lido kitchen and the grinding, and clunking and banging of pots and was intolerable.

The next morning we switched to an inside cabin on deck one because it was all they had left.

We just recently tried a gty balcony on the Pride, and it worked out VERY well for us. We had originally booked a 4K(interior french door cabin) last February for a Pride cruise last month under ES rate. Bout 3 weeks before cruise, there was a 'sale" and gty balconies were only like $40 more than the 4K, so we decided to "give up ES" and take the gamble. 5 days after booking when the "sale" was over, we were assigned an extended balcony cabin, next to one we had stayed in on a previous Pride cruise, so we knew what to expect and that it was a nice cabin and decent location.

We were pleased....but then there were like 3 additional price drops after we switched. Each time we went back into the "gty pool" and each time were re-assigned the same cabin...and $500 OBC when it was all done with.....we were then real pleased!!

I am just a little confused on this last part

1. Rebooked to gty balcony after original booking was an interior 4K, assigned an extended balcony in good location..cabin 5120...pleased.

2. After booking gty balcony to 5120...priced dropped several days later...I contacted my PVP for the price drop...got the reduced rate....had to wait to be assigned a cabin a second time.."back in the gty pool"...after a few days...assigned 5120 again.

3. Two more prices drops followed within days...PVP help adjust fares for each...each time had to have a cabin re-assigned....each time were were assigned back to 5120. Net result....3 price drops after booking gty balcony..total of $500 OBC....very pleased

We've also booked several GTY cabins and have always had a good cabin - not to say that you can't get assigned a less than desirable cabin, but we spend so little time in our cabin, even some noise probably wouldn't have bothered us a bit. The main issue is location - Carnival's cabins, with a few exceptions, are all prefabricated and virtually identical, so for the most part, an outside cabin is an outside cabin, just the location will vary.

Promenade deck 5 aft is awesome! We were in a suite 5340 in August and we loved being on the same deck as the casino and more! It was very quiet being over the dining room, we did not hear a peep! Not a lot of cabins there so less traffic! Enjoy!

I booked an inside guarantee, then, for the same price, we upgraded to an oceanview guarantee. We were assigned an ov on the riviera deck. I've never had an oceanview cabin, and I've never been that low on a ship. I am trying to look at the bright side, but I think I want a balcony.

I saw this awesome youtube video of an oceanview cabin on the Pride with rough seas. Very cool. Is it wrong to wish for a tiny bit of a storm? Just a couple of hours of big waves so I can watch it from my riviera oceanview?

We haven't gone from IS to OCV, but we've gone from assigned/selected IS, to GTY BL, and have ended up in great locations each time. We usually book 6 months out, but with the promo of ES, 1/2 deposits, and three category upgrade that ended last week, we decided to book 300+ days out this time around. Our last cruise under the ES rate we went from assigned IS, to assigned BL, to guarantee BL under one rate, then to guarantee BL under a new rate. With both changes we ended up almost in the same location and room, with some in our party being able to upgrade to a suite (no bad locations here). In viewing this, we'll take the gamble each time.
