Swampbaby Posted October 11, 2014 #101 Share Posted October 11, 2014 With all the posts on warm(er) cabins, I ordered this from Amazon. Walmart carries them but didn't have the 10" when I looked.
habari Posted October 11, 2014 #102 Share Posted October 11, 2014 We sailed with Carnival in August and found the cabins very warm. I never used my wrap or sweater in the dining rooms or theatre at all. This has never happened to us before.
mrs. z Posted October 11, 2014 #103 Share Posted October 11, 2014 Going on the Pride in November and hope there are no problems with the AC. Has always been comfortable in the room but the dining room and casino areas are always way too WARM.
andy.capitan Posted October 11, 2014 #104 Share Posted October 11, 2014 Our Carnival cruises this year has been 8 cruises on 6 different ships and the cabin temperature at night on the last 2 cruises has definitely been warmer than the previous 60 Carnival cruises. You don't speak for millions. You don't either. However, someone claimed that a hundred or so had complained about temperature, that leaves millions that didn't. Just got off the Pride on 10/5.......no AC issues at all - cabin very comfy, common areas always comfortable, a little chilly by Rafel's (sp) bar going in to the dining room (deck 3) - the casino in specific places seemed warm.......on the whole, we were very comfortable the entire cruise - this is all my opinion of course:)

dmdiver Posted October 11, 2014 #107 Share Posted October 11, 2014 Out of all our past cruises, I do recall one cabin that was warmer than my hubby liked. I know it was a Carnival ship, but don't remember which one, but it was several years ago. This last cruise in September was just perfect. Public areas felt comfortable to me & even a bit cool on occasion.
sgttami Posted October 11, 2014 #108 Share Posted October 11, 2014 I have never had a problem with cabin temperatures on any cruise I've ever been on. Have turned it up and down when I wanted. Sometimes I just don't get all the "complaining." Really.....
GottaLuvCruising Posted October 11, 2014 #109 Share Posted October 11, 2014 I emailed Carnival regarding Liberty stateroom temp issues and received what seems to be an appropriate and reasonable reply: Hello Janet, Thank you for contacting us. We have not modified the standard temperature for cabins on any ships. We have over the past few months had some technical issues with two of the ship's AC compressors. Repair work has been conducted and we do not anticipate further problems with the air temperature going forward. Thank you for choosing Carnival. Rare Terre Posted October 12, 2014 #111 Share Posted October 12, 2014 (edited) Here is a picture of the temp in our cabin on the Fantasy last year. Prior to this sailing, the cabins on the Fantasy were always very cool, like in the 60s. This was before lunch and as the evening went on, it got warmer which made it impossible to sleep comfortably. It would get up to around 80, then drop back down to 76 and go back up... There is something definitely going on with the temperatures in the cabins, but like I said in an earlier post, we've been noticing this on all cruise lines and ships we've been on over the past 4 or 5 years, so it's a new thing. Rare Terre Posted October 12, 2014 #113 Share Posted October 12, 2014 (edited) What did Guest Services say/do? Not much, we got a fan. The A/C guys come and stick a computer thing up in the vent and check it on the computer and say it's where it's supposed to be. Now when we book, I just go ahead and order a fan because I have asthma and need it cool to sleep -- and to breathe! momstreat Posted October 12, 2014 #114 Share Posted October 12, 2014 In June on the Liberty our room was Hot! September on the Sunshine the room was hot! Just off of the Fantasy today- air conditioning was fine!
lollylew Posted October 12, 2014 #115 Share Posted October 12, 2014 On my Freedom cruise in September, I quite noticed the much warmer room than usual. Of course, the engineering dept tested the room and said that 72 degrees was within normal range but that I could go get a fan from Guest Services. It wasn't the temperature of the room; it was the fact that absolutely no air was blowing from the vents!
scgamecock Posted October 12, 2014 #116 Share Posted October 12, 2014 Our cabin on Liberty (7345) in June was so warm it was hard to sleep. We complained several times to no avail. I have not experienced this on any other Carnival ship.
Pellaz Posted October 12, 2014 #117 Share Posted October 12, 2014 Our cabin on Liberty two years ago was VERY moist and humid. The "conditioning" or drying aspect of the A/C system wasn't working. After going back and forth with Guest Services all of the first evening (as always, the room "met Carnival's standards"), we eventually decided for medical reasons that we would have to invoke Carnival's Satisfaction Guarantee, debark at the first non-U.S. port and be returned to the homeport at CCL's expense. We were promptly offered an open balcony stateroom from an oceanview, and since the A/C was clearly working in the balcony cabin, we (pretty happily) took the upgrade. In a nutshell: if the cabin is clearly uncomfortable and you'd be miserable in it, consider your situation (length of cruise, how much time you spend in your cabin, etc.) and the possibility of invoking the guarantee. Jana60 Posted October 12, 2014 #119 Share Posted October 12, 2014 (edited) the timing of this post is uncanny. We just got off the Victory a couple weeks ago. We called maintenance because we thought the cabin was warmer than we wished. They came and checked it. They left a card stating that the A/C was operating within carnival standards. Usually DW if yelling at me to turn the air down because she is too cold. Not on this cruise. For the record, we were on the same ship(victory) last year and had no A/C complaints. well except wife was too cold. but we could adjust. wonder if they put in the efficient systems on the Victory or just turned it down or was it just our cabin.... hmmm Common areas seemed to be the same. the main show room was down right cold. only the cabin is what we noticed. I cruise very frequently and have always noticed that I get hot whenever we're in port. But I get too cold when we're at sea with the same thermostat setting. This is been true of every ship I've ever been on and I've been on four different cruise lines. I asked one cabin steward about this. He told me that the air conditioning systems of cruise ships do not work properly when the ship is not moving. He said it's a good idea to keep your drapes in your cabin closed whenever the ship is in port to keep the Sun from warming the room. I have started doing that and I now have much more pleasant debarkation and port days. Princess must keep their air conditioning a little lower because when I sail on Princess I am hot the first day no matter what I do. Although I didn't have this problem on our last cruise on Princess because it took place in Alaska. ccruisequeen Posted October 12, 2014 #120 Share Posted October 12, 2014 (edited) Maybe because they are smaller, but I didn't need aa sweater on the Inspiration and Imagination. I remember the splendor being very cold (a friend had to buy a jacket) & on the Miracle, I got a hoodie for the cabin. I pack thermal underwear and sweat pants to sleep in. The imagination was very cold in May, but one of the crew told me in June when I returned that it was broken and had since been repaired. I still keep a sweater with me at all times. I usually get a cabin mid ship on the empress deck. To turn down the air I have to stand on the bed and close the vent.
