"LIVE" from Norwegian Breakaway - Oct 12, 2014

Hello everyone. . . I was able to complete my packing and was on the road (I-95) by 12 Noon. I am currently at my pre-cruise Hotel (Hampton Inn) where I will do my final prep work for this cruise. I was originally thinking of watching the news for a bit before dinner, but it is better that I don’t so I can get to sleep early for some plans I have for tomorrow.

I really feel bad for the 4400 passengers on board Breakaway tonight . . . their minds are filled with all the things they need to do for debarkation, packing and transportation home. I have been there and felt that pain. . .The good thing however is that I will be sailing tomorrow (rain or shine). My plan is to be at the pier by around 11AM. I am hoping that the traffic is not too bad tomorrow as I know sometime Manhattan can be a headache.

The weather forecast looks more promising for tomorrow as we “should” have mostly sunny skies (with some clouds) and temps of around 62° (F).

I will be up early tomorrow (very early) while monitoring marinetraffic dot com and New York Port webcam . . . I am happy that a Dunkin Donuts is close by ! Thanks for all of the supportive comments, and I hope that my wireless connection will work well onboard for many pics daily to be posted.

Which Hampton are you in and how far a drive is the Manhattan Port? We usually drive up and stay near Meadowlands but our go to hotel has no vacancies. We could just drive up the day of departure as it's a 4 1/2 hr drive but that makes me nervous.

I normally stay at Exit 13(30 min from pier) but am staying at Exit 10 (45 min to the pier)

I could have driven all the way in the morning, but like you I didn't want to drive for 4 hours on boarding day. . .

Hi RADIO. enjoying your review. Wish you a great cruise. We were on the BA back in summer and booked already for 2 more, next one in 6 weeks. We love it.

I got some news for you. If you are planning to park at the port try to leave really early, I work in Manhattan and I noticed today were 4 ships in port, 2 visiting as port of call The AIDABELLA AND THE AIDALUNA" and 2 departing, NCL GEM AND CARNIVAL SPLENDOR. check link http://www.nycruise.com/schedule/

I think the parking lots will be pretty full, also tomorrow will be the 2 AIDAS, THE BA and the NAVIGATOR. Google parking in the area before you leave the hotel and have a back up plan.

Have a lot of fun and please say hi to Julie the cruise director, oh yeah, I forgot she just got off las week, I read the CD now is JC, let us know how good he is.

Von voyage. :D:D

Good morning everyone. . . I am thinking that today would be a good day to go on a cruise.

The hotel was packed last night, and as I was getting coffee this morning I was able to find a local paper to see what the news events were for the day. It is a little chilly out this morning (48°F) but it should warm up a little later this afternoon.

It’s time for a little breakfast and some coffee . . . It is fun listening to the radio broadcast between Norwegian Gem and the port authority. Today is CRUISE DAY !

cruisin07family, I'm down in Ranson WV. What we have done is leave here on Saturday head up to Baltimore and take AMTRAK into NY on Sunday morning. Take a cab from Penn Station only a couple blocks from Pier 88. Just a suggestion.

Hello everyone . . .OK. . .Bags are packed, electronics are secured, coffee has been consumed.

I think I have everything needed for this week. What I don’t have I will have to do without for a week. . .(or at least until Port Canaveral)

We will have AIDAbella, Seven Seas Navigator, AIDAluna with us today at the docks. I will need to get a few images if possible. Ruby Princess is over at the Brooklyn Pier Terminal in Red Hook.

I will be leaving around 9:30 ish (I need to stop at Wawa)

I will see everyone on board !

Just checking in... ready for a wonderful review. I can't believe that you haven't once mentioned the friendly casino, but i know there'll be a pic or two there. Great trip to you. i have friends on the Dawn not having too much fun as Bermuda is getting whacked this morning... hopefully that will clear out and they'll dock a little later. Wave during the sail out lol.

Curious question....and this coming from a native New Yorker...how many ships can actually port at one time in NY? I know there are three piers for cruise ships--88, 90 and 92, but do any of them hold more than one ship, one on either side? Most I've ever see in port is three.

with so much company at the port, if you get a chance to ask someone (unless you are using it yourself)how crowded is it getting a spot to park at the port garage. Wondering if the parking is large enough to handle all that company
The other ships are here for PORT Day... only NCL is boarding.
