Nghthawke Posted October 12, 2014 #1 Share Posted October 12, 2014 Oh my gosh my luggage is full. Is there a hair dryer in the stateroom? I seem to remember that yes, each stateroom has hair dryers so I do not need to pack one right? (Thank you. :o )
rkacruiser Posted October 12, 2014 #2 Share Posted October 12, 2014 Yes, there is one. But, some find them to be inadequate for the job they are supposed to do.
sail7seas Posted October 12, 2014 #3 Share Posted October 12, 2014 (edited) There is a hair dryer in every cabin and I would guess they are about 1700 watts. They have always worked fine for my short hair. Edited October 12, 2014 by sail7seas
Nghthawke Posted October 12, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted October 12, 2014 Thank you. My hair is short so no problem. Anyone else get stressed packing? I'm thinking it is because it is outside my usual routine. The brain is finding it hard to get it in gear.

I leave tomorrow for a 10 day Amtrak trip and today has been stressful. When I was growing up, my Mother always said that she could count on me to "become ill" just prior to a trip. I now don't become ill, but I am stressed. Must simply be my nature, I guess.

cruz chic Posted October 13, 2014 #8 Share Posted October 13, 2014 I always bring mine...the ship's is crappy...doesn't blow worth a damn. Agree. The last one I had you had to hold the button on. That's just stupid.
iflyrc5 Posted October 13, 2014 #9 Share Posted October 13, 2014 My DW has short hair and finds that the ships hair dryer is fine. If it does not seem to work well ask the cabin steward for a different one - some of them may just be worn out and not working correctly.
Sue from Canada Posted October 13, 2014 #10 Share Posted October 13, 2014 Oh my gosh my luggage is full. Is there a hair dryer in the stateroom? I seem to remember that yes, each stateroom has hair dryers so I do not need to pack one right? (Thank you. :o ) I find the hair dryer is fine for my fine hair. If your luggage is already full where are you going to put your purchases? Take out one quarter of the stuff as you can always do laundry on board and no one cares if you wear the same top etc. more than once.
thetexasaggiecruiser Posted October 13, 2014 #11 Share Posted October 13, 2014 I stress out over packing. For a three day business trip even. I dread it. Don't know why. All the what-ifs, maybe-need, ugh. The best part of packing is being done. And of course, that you are about to cruise! I found the hair dryers on board to be adequate. I tend to just deal with the ones provided on cruises or hotels because it's just one more thing I don't have to pack. Sounds like you should be ok. Have a great trip. Nghthawke Posted October 13, 2014 Author #12 Share Posted October 13, 2014 Thanks for the great advice everyone. Much appreciated. All packed... now I am having trouble sleeping. *sigh*
sapper1 Posted October 13, 2014 #13 Share Posted October 13, 2014 I only had one experience on a ship when the hair dryer didn't work and a quick word with our room steward produced a new one within fifteen minutes. I find that the provided dryers are adequate and it is nice not to have to lug my own dryer on the trip.
Krazy Kruizers Posted October 13, 2014 #14 Share Posted October 13, 2014 I have found some hair dryers to good and some to be bad. If you have thick hair, you might want to consider taking your own.
