In a nut shell the way I understand it. You pay $250 for the cruise credit while on a current cruise. You get $100.00 OBC for your current cruise and $250 as a deposit for your next cruise. Your spending 250 and get back 100

Yes, and then when you book your next cruise, you use that $250 that you have already paid as a deposit. Most times you don't have to come out of pocket more for the deposit than what you have already paid. Exception that I have heard is if you are booking the Haven. We usually do this every cruise we have been on.

I have a question about buying the FCC. On our cruise we will use my DH credit card when we board for the both of us. I would like to buy the FCC on my own credit card can into that if I go and pay for it that way and not put it on DH card. I want to surprise him and don't want it on our bill.

Thanks - first time on ncl. Hoping to take advantage of the program.

I hope you do take advantage of it... but first make sure you love NCL enough to want to return.. I sure can't imagine not but... if you decide you'd like to take advantage of it great.. also of note.. if you buy it and decide within the 1st 30 days that you don't really want it... make sure you contact NCL to get your money, which will only be $150, back (remember you've already received $100 in OBC).

Enjoy your cruise(s)

Cheers

Have only cruised royal and as stated looking forward to ncl (something new and different). Will go on ship with open mind and we are hoping not to compare the two lines. Thanks for the info.

They are also fully transferable...it would be easy enough to sell an unwanted FCC.

Here is the issue.

They give you a $100 credit against your CURRENT cruise, which goes on your CURRENT bill. If your bill is separate from his, and he NEVER will see it, then it works.

But... how will that work?

the $100 OBC for your current cruise will show up on your bill, so its tough to do it as a surprise, also they have signs all over the ship advertising the program...

Also, after our last cruise we booked two more cruises. I only had one FCC and was kicking myself until my PCC said I had up to, I think, 90 days to purchase another for $250 and then I would get $75 OBC on the cruise I booked using it.

It works pretty well. You have four years to use the credit or you lose it. You can transfer it to someone else at will, so it can be a gift to a family member if you can't take another cruise. You must book and sail on a 6 day or longer cruise within that four years in order to use the $250 credit as a deposit. The credit serves as your down-payment for most cabins, so you can book a cruise without any money down in the future.

As others said, there's a $250 charge. It can be on a separate credit card, but the charge still shows up on your shipboard account. My sister did this a few years back. There is a corresponding $100 credit applied to your account. So the net charge is really $150.

Everything you buy on board will be charged to your shipboard account and applied to the CC you presented when you boarded. I don't know how you could use another card just for the FCC. But you do have a window to buy the same FCC after the cruise, and I would think you can use any CC you want. The credit you get back is $25 less than on board, $75 instead of $100, but it is applied to your NEXT cruise when you book it. So in addition to surprising him with a $250 deposit for his next cruise, he will have a $75 credit to enjoy as well.

It costs you a little more out of pocket, but it retains the surprise factor.

Great. That works.

You can also trade your $100 OBC for $125 in casino play. :)

I'm not sure how that would work?? You bill looks like this:

FCC $250

Credit $100

Total $150

You never see the $100 because they subtract it at the same time they charge your account. If you wanted to get the $125 in casino play there will be another charge on your account for $100.

If you trade it in for casino credit, you don't get the $100 OBC on your final bill at all... so you would just see the $250 FCC.
