CRUISEBOY305 Posted November 4, 2014 #26 Share Posted November 4, 2014 I doubt the ship will stay past its deployment thats out there today, the investment on the ship is for the long term regardless of where it is if its stays within royal, which means going to pullmantur or cdf. the maintenance of the ship is still important to conitinue sailing or possible sell in the future General maintenance is important to continue sailing not an outsoor screen. I highly doubt rc would make the investment on an asset they only plan on retaining for another 18 months. Clarea Posted November 5, 2014 #33 Share Posted November 5, 2014 Is there a chance that they Will add a ducktail to the ship? I doubt it. They do that to the other ships to offset significant weight added in the aft end.
runner2013 Posted November 5, 2014 Author #34 Share Posted November 5, 2014 Hotel director on the 9/26 cruise said it was just a regular maintenance dry dock and a bit of "spit and polish". On 10/10 cruise senior staff reiterated no major changes or improvements. While it would be nice to have the big screen, not sure where they would put it. I would be surprised. Also would be surprised if Boleros got replaced - it is hugely popular on Majesty. They don't like to mess with a proven revenue source. But who knows - maybe they will do these changes. Got the info from a Diamond member on Majesty who spoke with many of the staff working on the ship....;)

Not that some "spit and polish" wouldn't hurt, of course, but she is hardly falling apart. :) I've been on her 4 times since mid-August. karena1 Posted November 5, 2014 #40 Share Posted November 5, 2014 We were on Majesty last weekend also and as always we loved it. Sad we could not get into Cococay b/c of wind but otherwise a great time. Majesty is what she is - a great weekend getaway. She doesn't have the bells/whistles of other ships. What she does have is great staff. Our cabin was clean, staff was fantastic as always. Hubby thought the food was very good, stir fry last night in WJ was amazing. We also heard Boleros was going to be an RBar. Did not hear about the big screen so guess we will find out next time we are on her. Right now she has itins through April 16, so once the new itins are out next spring, guess we will all know what is going to happen.

At least we got to spend the night in Nassau. Not sure if that's a good thing. I love the crew on Majesty. I always say, they're the best in the fleet. Were you at the Diamond event ??? Clarea Posted November 6, 2014 #44 Share Posted November 6, 2014 What's a ducktail It's called a sponson and you can see it on the back of Splendour here: They add it for stability and to offset the weight added in the Viking Crown area during the revitalization dry dock. Not really. It really is called a ducktail. Sponsons are projections on the side of the ship. A ducktail is sometimes called a 'ducktail sponson' but sponson by itself refers to the side extensions. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sponson http://books.google.com/books?id=1JLoNheWK2UC&lpg=PA532&ots=c01rAHAEpU&dq=purpose%20ducktails%20ship%20stability&pg=PP1#v=onepage&q=sponson&f=false
Briitini Posted November 6, 2014 #47 Share Posted November 6, 2014 Its unfortunate that so many people have great experiences and mine sucked. When I got back I talked to someone who was just on it a few weeks ago and noticed the rude staff (bartenders) problem as well. When I have **** gurgling in my shower drain that emits a horrific rotten **** smell in my cabin, yes I have a problem. Keep your eye rolling to yourself. The whole 2nd deck smelled like sewage the entire weekend. When you're yelled at for asking what time the bar opens on the day you miss a port of call and other passengers look and comment about how rude the person was, that's hardly a good experience. All of the common area chairs and seats were stained and need to be refurbished. When your room steward knows about the problem as knows you are moving rooms there is NO reason to throw away a bag of hair care items that were accidentally left in the room. It's nit like he was cleaning after we had left the boat. I am sure plenty of people don't have high expectations when it comes to cruising, but I do. I have never had any sort of problem on Carnival and they call Carnival the "Walmart of cruiselines". There are also several negative yelp reviews about the rude staff. So, maybe people on this forum should start increasing their expectations.
