PunkiC Posted November 6, 2014 #1 Share Posted November 6, 2014 We sailed on Queen Victoria a couple of months ago and loved the ship. We will be sailing on Queen Elizabeth for the first time in a couple of weeks. What are the main differences between the two ships?

cruiseluvva Posted November 6, 2014 #4 Share Posted November 6, 2014 Plus QE has a Britannia Club so no Chart Room.
Bell Boy Posted November 6, 2014 #5 Share Posted November 6, 2014 You'll feel at home as soon as you step aboard as it's 'almost' the same as Victoria. I must admit I prefer the Britannia restaurant as it has a splendid entrance (check out some of megacruisers photo review) There is no Chart Room (as on Vic) this area is the Britannia Club Restaurant, and a very smart place too. The only downside to this is, Cafe' Carinthia can get very crowded at evening 'Cocktail Hour', guests often overflow into the walkway. The rear deck area (9 deck) is much larger and is a nice spot to eat alfresco (food from the Lido) It's just been refitted with plenty of shade and additional seating & tables. I'm sure other posters can come up with other differences :)
pmb1 Posted November 6, 2014 #6 Share Posted November 6, 2014 QE's near vertical stern makes her uglier than QV, and QV isn't much to look at. But I'm just a QM2 liner snob who has no intention of sailing on either of those cruise ships.
Ray66 Posted November 6, 2014 #7 Share Posted November 6, 2014 The QE has a games area at the front of deck 11 which includes croquet, a bowling green (short mat bowls) and tennis. The QV just has tennis. Also see comparisons on posts number 21 and 22 on this link: http://cruiseforums.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2103344&page=
Parsley Cruises Posted November 6, 2014 #8 Share Posted November 6, 2014 One is art deco - the other is art nouveau, the aft balconies (at the moment) on QV are fabulous, much better than the aft ones on QE. I think that QV is supposed to be getting the single cabins same as QE in the casino area, but the other difference is that on QV the bookshop is on deck 3 with a gift shop on deck 3, and QE is vice versa. The carpet leading from deck 10 up to deck 11 is green patterned on one ship and beige patterned on the other - and that's about it.:)

The Names :D Elizabeth now has a smaller casino and A few Solo Staterooms in its place Elizabeth does not have a Chart Room, Brittania Club dining in its place The Decor is different, in my opinion a bit dull Front Deck 11 Nicer and larger Stern at Deck 9 Edited November 6, 2014 by Pennbank
seacruise9 Posted November 6, 2014 #10 Share Posted November 6, 2014 Hi, In addition to the differences mentioned above, the Queen Victoria has the Winter Garden with a retractable glass roof aft of the Pavilion Pool. In this same location, the Queen Elizabeth has the Garden Lounge with a fixed (and rounded) glass roof. Chuck
Lanky Lad Posted November 6, 2014 #11 Share Posted November 6, 2014 (edited) The Veranda on QE is a much nice room than on QV and the dining experience is better as well. It's a must do. Edited November 6, 2014 by Lanky Lad
DDBINK1 Posted November 7, 2014 #12 Share Posted November 7, 2014 I think that the crew and officers are different between the ships. ;)

Hi, I agree that the exteriors of the QE and QV are not as attractive as the QM2, but they are beauty queens compared to some other ships (such as the Norwegian Epic). :) Chuck Edited November 7, 2014 by seacruise9
Chunky2219 Posted November 7, 2014 #14 Share Posted November 7, 2014 Sounds a silly thing to say, but QE seems noisier when things get rough - more creaks and rattles noticeable all over the ship. One ex-Cunard wag told me it was because she had been knocked up a bit too quick in Italy and didn't get snagged properly. Also, for Grills fans, QE has (or had) the better M. d' - Igor, who's been outstanding whenever we've been on board. .

I have done three Atlantic crossings on QE and two world cruises. I also did the start of the maiden world cruise on QV in 2008. The Atlantic crossing on QV was so noisy that there was almost a mutiny as the deck floor were rising and falling and banging so loud people could not sleep even in PG. That problem has been sorted but I can not say there is any difference now in the noise of either ship. Never experienced a noise issue since the QV maiden crossing.
