Formal nights and when to get my hair done!

Hi everyone

We have done a few cruises but its all a learning curve for us.

We are departing 23 Nov on The Millennium and I wondered how I can find out what days the formal nights are on?

I am rubbish at doing my own hair, so no matter how lovely the gown, there is a possibility of me looking like the wild witch of Borneo.

On the last cruise by the time I got to booking it (embarkation day!) all the best slots had gone......and when i did turn up on formal night they had no appointment booked in.....grrrr.

Anyway I digress...

How can I find out the exact night of posh frock wearing and can I book salon before departure?

You can book your hair appts now! Since Canyon ranch has taken over, they accept telephone reservations. Formal nights are typically first sea day and the night before the last full day of the cruise. Canyon ranch phone number is available on the celebrity website or call celebrity for information I am booked for hair appts for our Jan cruise

As there are no "guarantees" on when formal nights are scheduled to happen ahead of a cruise ... I make my reservation once I get aboard (first day when touring the ship / visiting The Spa for their open house). Getting an appointment for the afternoon of The Formal, has never been a problem. CRUISE A HOLIC is right... formal Nights "usually happen on sea days" unless you are on a very port intensive cruise. But by E-Day the Cruise Staff Onboard will most definitely know what the Captain has planned for the Itinerary.

Cheers!

You are on a 14 day cruise therefore you will have three formal nights. Since you are in Singapore for the first two days, your first Formal will probably be day 3 with the last one probably on the night before your last night on board. The third one is anyone's guess. You should probably do as others have said and find out when the formal nights will be once on board and make your reservations immediately.

Although Celebrity does try to schedule formal nights on at sea days, it is not written in stone, I have been on many cruises where formal nights were on port days. I suspect after seeing your itinerary that your 3rd night will be on a port day.

Your hair looks fine... save the money, skip the salon... and go have some fun! ;)

Bring lots and lots of cash for those hair stylings!!!!! . Add 18% gratuity to these prices, BTW.

I used Canyon Ranch previously on the Summit, while the hairdresser was just okay- better then me- and I was able to fix my hair to my liking once they did it. I booked on line a few days ago for my 2 week Eclipse Jan cruise. I will have my hair styled three times as their are three formal nights.

It isn't cheap- like any fancy salon-cheaper then many in NYC- but it is something important to me. Some people get massages or facials- which to me is like getting your hair washed and styled- or play in the casino- so why not spend the $60 plus dollars on your hair-if it makes you feel good. That is what vacations are all about. Really great that you can book in advance and pick the time and day you desire! So much better then making a bee-line to the salon once you board. Years ago, when I didn't know better, I took my time, had lunch then tried to book hair appts- had to book early in the morning or late at night so the times weren't ideal!

Why thank you, now go and get your glasses checked!:):);)

My hair can, on occasion, look lovely but never when I need it to.

Hence my reliance on the experts.

Yes exactly.....couldn't agree more.

We never go in the casino and i never use the spa.

I can get facials etc done at home and there are so many wonderful things to do on a cruise that I just wouldnt waste time on doing stuff that I could do at home like massages etc.

But each to their own, we are all different.

But if my hair is a mess then i feel a mess so thats why I like to spend the money.
