Justmekaren918 Posted November 28, 2014 #26 Share Posted November 28, 2014 ....even a bunch of halfwit, drunken frat boys can build a parade float and get it to work as witnessed in "Animal House".............my advice to the ad dept. at RCL is to "drink heavily"................;) Where is that like button when you need it! I would suggest hurricanes and keep em coming to they produce a good float! That was cheez central!
EmpressofPurple Posted November 28, 2014 #27 Share Posted November 28, 2014 Grabbed a selfie as it was pulling in... but float was blurred. Here's a better shot: But I had NO idea it was supposed to revolve, and never saw the scenes on the other side until I watched the recording of the parade at home that night. Ladysilver Posted November 28, 2014 #28 Share Posted November 28, 2014 I wasn't impressed either at all. Burst my bubble. :p
The Big Booper Posted November 28, 2014 #29 Share Posted November 28, 2014 Something bad is happening to the company. First the myriad tech problems with the Q ship, then the misfire on a major marketing opportunity. Who is calling the shots, this is not their track record. Didn't a senior exec leave the company earlier this year?
thecruiserofships Posted November 28, 2014 #30 Share Posted November 28, 2014 I must have missed the float on TV. Thanks for posting pictures!

SamFritz Posted November 29, 2014 #32 Share Posted November 29, 2014 It's a really bad sign when a CRUISE-LINE can't build a FLOAT! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
mommabean Posted November 29, 2014 #33 Share Posted November 29, 2014 I think the float would be good for Mardi Gras.
mgoose1 Posted December 5, 2014 #34 Share Posted December 5, 2014 Sadly, it seems to look awfully cheesy for an upscale company.
grand isle joe Posted December 5, 2014 #35 Share Posted December 5, 2014 I think the float would be good for Mardi Gras. ......yea the only way to view that disaster is in a knee walking , fall down drunken "stupper"........ And they will probably forget to throw out the beads......
newcruiser80 Posted December 7, 2014 #36 Share Posted December 7, 2014 Time to turn up the heat on this conversation... First of all no one has mentioned that this is Macy's parade, not Royal Caribbean's. Macy's design team builds floats, recruits talent and and escorts including kids and costumed adults. Second the float was designed to show all of the incredible new options guests have on a cruise ship, especially those which appeal to kids. The general public, not us cc users, still think cruising involves being "trapped" on a boat for days. We know that this isn't the case (unless you're on carnival). I think royal is more concerned and happy with the amazing commercial they showed during the parade instead of their float. Maybe you'd rather them increase our cruise fare so they could "wow" you for 3 minutes during a thanksgiving day parade? Btw Kristen Chenoweth was on last year during Quantum buzz. Now that she's sailing routes and actually built we don't need a star advertising her. Or would you rather that come out of your cruise fare as well? Nick Jonas is adorable and appeals to kids, the exact demographic royal wants on their ships. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
grand isle joe Posted December 7, 2014 #37 Share Posted December 7, 2014 ...I guess we just expected a float that did not look like it was built like a 4 the grade shop class.......and actually performed at least.......
jkrislc Posted December 7, 2014 #38 Share Posted December 7, 2014 I think it looked better in person than the photos represent. However, I agree about the branding. I had to Tweet an RCI fan to confirm that this was the RCI float as I was unsure. While there is a crown and anchor at the top of the float, it doesn't look like one ever used by RCI. 1ParticularHbr Posted December 7, 2014 Author #40 Share Posted December 7, 2014 Even if they didn't personally build it, someone at RCI gave the green light for it...and it's still their brand being represented.
